About this Cook
I really enjoy cooking and baking. I mainly go by recipes that I find interesting. I do like to add my own flavor and pizzazz. I never use a timer whether its for baking or cooking...I usually just know when its done (and no mess-ups either!). My specialty is cupcakes...I love cupcakes! I hope to open my own cupcake shop one of these days :) I started cooking because my fiance went on a deployment for 6 months. I felt like I was fixing the same thing all the time so I wanted to shake things up so I decided to try a bunch of new recipes and found out that I really enjoyed cooking. When my fiance came back I had lots of new and interesting things for him to try...so now I have a very happy husband who loves my food! Check out my cupcake blog at http://cupcake-adventures.blogspot.com/.
My favorite things to cook
Cupcakes, things with lots of cheese, Southern foods (fried chicken, mac & cheese, cornbread), I love the slow cooker, and desserts. I also like to go to the weekend Farmers Market to get fresh ingredients. I usually get fresh fruits, veggies, and eggs. I love the Farmers Market!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom really wasn't much of a cooker...
My cooking triumphs
chocolate cupcakes...super moist and oh so delicious! Fried chicken, I've perfected it. Chicken Penne with Vodka Sauce...one of the family favorites.
My cooking tragedies
Red velvet cupcakes, I haven't figured out how to get them just right...they are dense and not light and fluffy like they should be.

Perfect Turkey
I make this every year for Thanksgiving and wouldn't make my turkey any other way. This the perfect recipe and I don't change anything about it. The brining makes a huge difference! The turkey is so tender and juicy. This is also a huge hit with my family!

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread
This is the first time I've ever made Irish soda bread and I used this recipe and can I say, OMG it was so good!!!! We ate it very shortly after in came out of the oven it was so yummy with butter that just melted right into it and I drizzled a little bit of honey on my slice and it was like biting into heaven. I made the recipe as called for and it does not need any changes whatsoever!

Jerre's Black Bean and Pork Tenderloin Slow Cooker Chili
I love this recipe. I have made it numerous times. I do make a few changes though. I use one can black beans, one can light red kidney beans, one can dark red kidney beans (instead of three cans black beans...for variation). I also add in one can of corn and one can of diced tomatoes. My husband loves this and loves having leftovers for his lunch at work. I usually pair this with rolls, corn bread, and/or tortilla chips. I also love to add cheese and sour cream to my serving :-)
