My favorite things to cook
Anything that interests me at the time. Basically healthy and low fat chicken and seafood. Lots of vegetables, especially new ideas for in-season things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hearty!! Great-grandparents had a farm and everything was made with baconfat, butter and lots of whole milk, cream and eggs. Primarily fresh veggies, homegrown citrus, grapes and figs.
My cooking triumphs
My Orange Ring Cake. Basically a sponge cake, baked in a tube pan, with a hot orange glaze poured over the warm cake after removing from the pan. Served chilled, it's a great spring or summer dessert.
Family recipe: Chicken by Candlelight. Baked slowly with a wine, butter, scallion and parsley sauce.
Parmesan Chicken: Baked slowly in a ream of chicken/parmesan cheese sauce sparked with wine and curry.
My cooking tragedies
Fudge frosting for my husband's favorite chocolate cake. One year I had to keep the cake in the frezer to keep the frosting on the cake. Another year I had to roll it like fondant to mold it around the cake. Both tasted good, just didn't behave.
