Pretty in Pink Sangria

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
I skipped the pineapple juice but kept everything the same otherwise. Served it at book club and I think people really enjoyed it. Thanks, STEPHYCOOKS

Wagon Wheel Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
Yum, this was delicious! I did make several additions -- used half a 16 oz. box of ditalini because it was what I had on hand, just 8 oz. of mayo (this was plenty, believe me!), probably didn't add a full cup of cheddar, and used 8 oz. of salsa (I assume that's what the recipe's author was shooting for? Picante just means "spicy" in Spanish.). Anyway, I just made this as a summer lunch for me while using up some stuff I had around the house. Delish!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
So, this was my first time to make brownies from scratch! I made them because I'm moving & have an excess of baking supplies (cocoa, flour, sugar, etc.). Anyway, I followed the recipe to the letter except I used a 9x9 pan. In my oven they only needed 25 minutes. The brownies were perfectly cooked, more cake-like, and came out of the pan easily (I use the PAM spray for baking). As for the frosting, I saw what other reviewers meant about the dryness, and found that adding a tbsp. of skim milk worked fine in giving it a good consistency. I also added sprinkles for a pop of color. Would definitely make again and recommend to others!

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
My bread came out slightly overdone after cooking it just 55 minutes, though this might be my recently fixed oven's fault. However, my roommate gave it an A! If I make this recipe again I will cook for only 45 minutes.

Garlic Delicata

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This recipe turned out just okay for me. I think someone else mentioned that it just tasted like all the ingredients mixed together, and I agree. Nonetheless, it's not really anything to complain about, just nothing to rave about either.

Easy Bok Choy

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This was tasty! I made this recipe using some normal-sized bok choy leftover from making stir fry. I enjoyed adding a tablespoon of soy sauce, though next time I would probably use less.

Pumpkin Curry with Lentils and Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
This was good...it just made a ton of food. As a single person, that's not usually my goal, but I could see it being a good recipe for a get-together. It was hard to evenly cook all the ingredients in the pot. If I make it again, I may skip some.

This was perhaps a little too creamy for my taste.

This was good but a little heavy. Just a note for those considering the recipe.

Garlicky Beet Delight

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
This was ok. I'm used to eating beets plain, and I think I prefer their natural, unadorned flavor.

Carrot Dill Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
This was a great way to use up some dill! Used vegetable bouillon instead of chicken stock, green onion instead of chives, and skim instead of 2% milk.

Winter Red Sauce over Spaghetti Squash

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
This recipe was excellent! Just what I was looking for! My changes: I microwaved the squash for eight minutes to save time (it comes out fine), and used an entire package of Tofurkey sausage that I sliced and added to the sauce. Yum!

Wendy's Quick Pasta and Lentils

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
This recipe was alright. I guess I didn't find it as fantastic as other reviewers. I felt that it needed something extra, so I added oregano. I used one large fresh tomato, came out fine.

Tuna Delicious

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
This recipe was a real let-down. I had really hoped for better since it's so highly rated, but like some other reviewers, I found it very boring. I even added one chopped garlic clove, some chopped fresh mushrooms, frozen peas, and bread crumbs, but it still disappointed. Had to add pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes to make it more palatable. I could see it being a good recipe if you have children in your family who are picky eaters, I suppose, but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

This recipe is awesome! I have recommended it to friends and will continue to do so! I add either seasoning salt, as suggested, or parmesan.
