Gingerbread Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2012
I would have rated this higher but I made the mistake of putting in a cup of black strap molasses instead of regular. We couldn't eat it, yuk! I'll try it again using regular molasses or cut the black strap back to 1/3 cup or so.

Applesauce Raisin Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
I have tons of chunky applesauce in our freezer and always looking for recipes to use it up. This is a winner, I used double the applesauce and added some cinnamon with the pumpkin pie spice. My hubby said to be sure and keep this recipe, it was a home run.

Cheese Log

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
I've made this for years but my recipe calls for one additional item, chopped pimento olives. The red piminto gives it a festive look. I don't use the monosodium glutamate, it's nasty chemicals and anyone who gets migraines should stay away from it.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
This is the second time I've made this wonderful salad. I'm usually counting calories so I made it calorie friendly. I only put in 1 Tablespoon of olive oil, left out the cannellini beans and substitued a whole can of green beans, only 3 ounces of fresh corn and 1/2 cut chopped celery.

Carrot Zucchini Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
I was all set to give this a bad review because the after-taste was horrid. Instead of throwing out the whole batch, I refrigerated it over night and tasted again in the morning. The after taste was gone once it had time for the flavors to blend. I did add some garlic which greatly improved the flavor. Thanks for sharing, I have a large crop of garden carrots to use up.

Fluffy Seven-Minute Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2010
1st time I made this it turned out excellent. I was in a hurry so didn't let whites come to room temperature. The 2nd time I made it, the whites were at room temperature and the frosting took 15 minutes to whip up to soft peaks, not nearly as good as the 1st batch. I'm going to use cool egg whites from now on. Both batches were delicious tasting!

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
I took other viewers advice and cubed the potatoes and mixed into the meat mixture. This was unlike anything we've had in the past but very delicious. I agree about the cloves and cinnamon, very necessary. I couldn't taste the crushed red pepper, I might put in more next time.

Pear Crumble

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
I had a lots of fresh pears so doubled the recipe and followed it exactly. The topping was good but the fresh pears released so much pear juice. I drained off 1/2 cup when I took it out of the oven. About 5 hours later I drained another 1/3 cup liquid out. The pears under the topping were very bland, I think they should have been tossed with the same spices in the topping plus some flour to help absorb the liquid.

Roasted Tomato Curry Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
AWESOME! I had some frozen tomatoes left over from last summer and they worked beautifully. Roasting the tomatoes is a must, it brings out the wonderful flavor of them. I don't buy saffron because of the cost but substituted a pinch of tumeric. Be warned about tumeric, just a pinch or your soup will be over-powered.

Country Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
5 Stars, delicious! We have a freezer full of Elk so I used ground elk instead of the pork. I buy the dry sausage seasoning mix from our butcher, it's the same seasoning he puts into the pork for sausage. I cut the crushed red pepper flakes to 1/2 tsp. because it's already in the seasonings I mix in the meat. Anyone having a lot of game meat can turn it easily into breakfast sausage if you're stumped with what to do with it all. I love the little bite to this wonderful sausage gravy. Yum-0!

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
These were on my daily email from allrecipes today, never heard of them before and don't know how to pronoun them. WOW! I added some chopped fresh Rosemary as others suggested and some garlic salt. I made them earlier in the day and refrigerated them until dinner time. It only took a couple of minutes to zap them in microwave, served them will hamburger patties smothers in onions and alfredo sauce, yummo!

Awesome! Next time I'll leave the salt out, the cheddar cheese and salsa has enough salt to season the chicken. My hubby wants me to make again.

Balsamic Brown Rice Salad

Delicious! I did add a splash of straight balsamic vinegar for a little extra kick and adjusted the sweetner. I used liquid Stevia instead of Splenda.

Raisins and Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
I loved this recipe, I did cut the raisins down to 1/2 cup to cut the calories. I used the sugar free cook and serve vanilla pudding mix. The 1st reader obviously didn't read your recipe, it doesn't call for instant pudding!
