About this Cook
Hi there!
My favorite things to cook
You name it, I'll cook it. Except liver...or lima beans. I draw the line at liver and lima beans.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm from the South. We cook and eat far too much. It shows.
My cooking triumphs
Spanakopita. My kids weren't crazy about vegetables, and especially hated spinach. But they LOVED my spanakopita. They thought the green stuff on the inside was an exotic vegetable that was called a spanakopita. They continued to believe that until they were adults, when I finally broke it to them that the green stuff inside was actually spinach.
My cooking tragedies
I used to make what my family called "Flintstone Brownies" (because they were as hard as a rock).

Stewed Tomatoes (Gobbledygook)
I don't know how to edit my own recipe, so I'll just add this note here: Please use your own discretion on the amount of pepper. I tend to use a lot.

World's Best Lasagna
Made this last night for company. This recipe is definitely a keeper. This was the first time I've tried soaking the noodles for a half hour in hot tap water instead of boiling them, and they turned out so much better, and were easier to work with. I was worried that they wouldn't cook completely without boiling, but they were perfect. I added some finely minced celery and mushrooms to the sauce, as well as a little red wine. I will definitely be using this recipe again.
