Hearty Hash Brown Dinner

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
this was an amazing recipe. i was a little scared of how the hash browns would turn out...i thought they would get too soggy. each ingredient makes the dish and it's for sure going to be a regular menu item. my husband rated it #6 out of 20 of his favorite foods i make for him. the only thing i changed was i used turkey meat instead of beef. it's healthier and reheats much better than beef. Updated: I made this again for a pot luck at work and it was a hit! My co workers devoured it! I love the simplicity of this recipe and the combinations of flavors. I originally rated this recipe a 4 but I had to move it to the 5 with the amazing feedback I get from people.

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
this recipe was ok. the first few bites i liked but after i got half way through i started to not like the tenderness of the chicken. it was a little too tender for my liking. i added a half packet of italian seasonings and i am glad i did because i think it would have been too bland without it. i am not sure i would make this again following the recipe. next time i will shred all the chicken up before eating. great as leftovers though.

Au Gratin Potatoes II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
wow! this was an amazing recipe! i love au gratin potatoes and the last time i had them this amazing was at my wedding in april 08 and i have been craving them every since. i rate this recipe a 4 because it calls for WAY too much butter on top with the corn flakes. next time i will only use half a stick rather than a whole one and maybe add some more corn flakes for an added crunch. my husband moaned with every bite. he loved em!!! *side note: they are not good heated up....way too greasy.*

Honey Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
i loved this recipe. i only rated it a 4 because i didn't follow the directions exactly. i am afraid if i did that it would have turned out to be too watery. instead i doubled everything and used a whole bottle of bbq sauce. i omitted the water like everyone suggested by kept the broth. at the end i took out the ribs, basted them and then broiled them for a couple minutes (with the door slightly open.) i took all the sauce left over in the crock pot, added a little flour/water to thicken up the sauce even more (it was plenty thick already.) i am using it to make home made baked beans! yummy!! my husbands rates everything i do and he rated this a number 2 on his list.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
I am not sure what to rate this because the dish turned out HORRIBLE...but I 100% believe it's my own fault. I work all day and this dish isn't one that you just leave in the slow cooker all day and hope it turns out right. I started it in the morning, came home on my lunch and put the dumplings in. I then cooked them for another 4 hours on low because I had to go back to work. I should have set the cooker to warm because the dumplings were WAY over cooked and they went in looking white and fluffy but came out looking brown and dry. I will for SURE make this recipe again but next time I will make sure I have more free time. Oh and I thought that it was way too salty. I used the normal cream of chicken soup and I am thinking I should have used the "low sodium" or "healthy request" soup instead. Don't get me wrong, I love salt but it was a little too overpowering! I rate this a 4 ONLY because of the excess salt. It didn't feel right rating it anything lower because of my screw up on over cooking it.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
eh.....i love stroganoff and this tastes NOTHING like it. don't get me wrong, but it was not what i expected at all. i even followed the recipe to the T. the ONLY thing I did different was shred the chicken instead of cube it. may i suggest that IF you do shred it, only use half the recommended portion of chicken. otherwise there is soooo much and not enough sauce. this recipe tastes like a tuna helper box dinner. i for sure wont make it again. not because it was bad but because it tastes NOTHING like stroganoff.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
WOW! This recipe turned out AMAZING! My husband does not like homemade Mac and Cheese and he scarfed this down. I only rated it a 4 because I changed a few things. I used Velveeta cheese instead of Sharp Cheddar because Cheddar tends to give a grainy texture to the macaroni. Velveeta gives it the added creaminess everyone loves. I also added a little half and half at the end to make sure it didn't dry out. Lastly instead of using bread crumbs I used crushed up Cheese-It's and that made it even better. It turned out amazing! My mouth is watering now just thinking about it.

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
Very good recipe! My husband isn't a big fan of peppers and he enjoyed it very much. The steak was very tender and flavorful. The veggies were a little mushy but I didn't have the opportunity to put them in an hour before done cooking like some reviews suggested. I used 4 peppers (2 red, 2 green) and a whole onion but decided NOT to double the juices and it turned out great. Poured over a bed of rice. Will for sure make this again.

Monte Cristo Sandwich - the Real One

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
great recipe! my husband loves and misses the monte cristo he used to order at bennigans and was so excited when he saw i was making this. he said it tasted JUST like the original...maybe even better because i made it. ; ) next time i will double the meat and cheese just to making it more filling. other than that it was amazing!! i don't have a deep fryer so i just cooked it in vegetable oil on the stove top. i used about an inch or so of oil and turned it every couple seconds. yummmmmmmy!!!

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
AMAZING cookies!!! i couldn't believe how easy they were to make and how little ingredients i needed. the only thing i changed was when i put the kisses on top of the cookies i let them melt a little and then pressed another kiss on them to double the chocolate. so yummy! the left overs i have (if my husband doesn't eat them all) i just warm one up when i am ready to eat them. will for sure make these cookies on a regular basis.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
this recipe was ok. i thought the unsweetened cocoa was a little overpowering and i thought they could have been gushier. my husband loved them though. they are really good with a cup of milk!

Quick Chick!

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
i liked this recipe. it was easy to make and very comforting. i would probably not make this when company comes around but it's perfect for a lazy day meal with just the hubby and me. i didn't do much to tweak it except i didn't have enough gravy so i added a little corn starch and chicken broth mix. served it over mashed potatoes.

Three Cheese Manicotti II

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
GREAT recipe. I didn't make ANY adjustments and it turned out wonderful. I prepared it in the morning and cooked it once I got home from work. A lot of other reviews suggests toning down the spaghetti sauce but I wouldn't have minded adding more! It was soooo good. This is for sure a must on making again, and again, and again!!!

Chicken Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
awesome recipe! so flavorful and filling. i cooked mine in the slow cooker all day because i didn't have time to make it up at night. i shredded the chicken as well instead of cubing it. so, so yummy! a very different take on enchiladas!!

Honey Walnut Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
this recipe disappointed me so much that i couldn't eat more than 4 bites. first off it calls for WAY too many egg whites. the mochicko batter was too pasty and the shrimp didn't stick to it at all so i had to add a little water so it would coat it. it doesn't call for enough sauce but that wouldn't have mattered because the egg flavor was so strong it was all i could taste. i LOVE honey walnut shrimp and so i am going to give this recipe another shot. but next time i am going to add water to the mochicko batter so it actually coats it. i will use two eggs whites, at the most, and i will for sure double the sauce. anyway, hope this helps someone else. UPDATE!!! ok so i gave this recipe another shot and left out the eggs all together (only because I didn't have any, which i recommend not making this at all if you don't have at least two) and i think i know what makes it taste like eggs so much. it's the batter it calls for. it was still eggy. i will make this again because i have faith it will one day turn out amazing but i think next time i will use cornstarch.

Mouth-Watering Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
my father in law makes the BEST stuffed mushrooms and even these don't compare to his. this is a great recipe though. next time i think i will use stuffing so that the cream cheese mixture isn't so rich. my husband LOVED these and asked that i make them on a regular basis.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
ok so the ONLY reason i rated this recipe a 4 is because i altered it just a tad. i am sure if i didn't it would have turned out just as good. i didn't feel like using cream of mushroom so i used cream of potato instead. i also wanted some veggies in it so i added a bag of vegetable medley. lastly i doubled the sauce so i had extra to pour over the stuffing i made with it.

Seattle Cream Cheese Dogs

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
yummy yum! i live in seattle and when i used to go out it was a ritual to get these dogs after a long night of dancing! of course this recipe can't compare to the actual seattle cream cheese dog but it comes pretty darn close. will for sure make more often.
