Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
I cooked corned beef for the very first time today and used this recipe. Go with the beer. I bought a pre-packaged thing of corned beef and the beer made it extremely tender. My hubby now has a different opinion on this particular meal. Love it...thanks!

Fried Green Tomatoes with Shrimp Remoulade

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
I didn't have salad greens and I used regular milk over buttermilk (personal preference) and this turned out wonderful! This is one I will make time and time again. If you cannot find creole mustard, you can just use any type of mustard with a couple dashes of cayenne pepper hot pepper sauce. Excellent recipe!

C and L's Stuffed Black Olives

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2015
I made one change which was that I used all ground pork instead of the pork/beef combo. These were a lot of work but worth it in the end in my opinion. Very tasty little morsels and a big hit. I do recommend using jumbo olives so that you get the bigger hole which makes the stuffing process a little easier. Serve with marinara as a dipping sauce and you have a five star all the way!

Pollo Oaxaca

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Followed the recipe to the T and it was perfect as is. I knew my blender was going on me and it finally petered out on this recipe but thankfully bigger chunks don't bother us at all. This was the first recipe I used with the tomatillos from my garden (the ONLY thing that has survived this heat in my garden) and I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks Avon!

Beef Bulgogi

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
I made as written and then served it over some leftover coleslaw/cabbage mix that needed used up. I sauteed the cabbage mix in olive oil and added garlic chili sauce for heat and this was superb! Can't wait to make again!

Margarita Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
These were excellent! After reading the reviews, I did add more tequila. I goofed and bought the wrong shrimp and they shrunk considerably on the grill so I am anxious to try this recipe again when I have better shrimp.

Russian Green Bean and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
I addes carrots, celery, and mushrooms and like one of the other reviews, I used the whole can of kraut. This was a very fresh tasting soup and didn't take long to prepare. The only thing I will do differently next time is not cook the potatoes as long as the recipe calls for because they ended up a little too mushy for me. This is a very unique and great tasting soup!

Steak Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
I had to make one minor change because I cannot stand blue cheese but hubby is a huge fan. I left it out of the dressing mix and just added it to the top of his salad. We enjoyed this salad very much. I added some yellow bell in addition to the green. This made for a nice healthy yet hearty dinner and I will make again.

Spring Omelet

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
I sauteed the veggies seperately and then added to the eggs once they were set but this was only for presentation and not taste. I also left out the milk (didn't have any) and it turned out just fine! I like mine cheesy and added some cheddar on top as well. Super simple and good flavor!

Creamy Scallop Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2014
Made as written and the only change that was needed was to add more liquid and I chose to thin it with more wine. This was super simple to make yet it had such an elegant taste and appearance. If you like scallops, this is a 5 star all the way!

Marinated Vegetable Medley

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2014
Made exactly as written and this is one I will make often in the summer. The only change I plan on making the next time is to use fresh herbs in place of the dried. This recipe screams summer picnics!

Easy Creamy Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2014
If you like artichokes and hummus then you should most definitely give this one a try. Super simple and packed full of flavor. I originally served this with a wheat cracker and I used raw veggies the second go around. Both were good but I thought the crackers were better. I honestly thought the Parm would make this entirely too salty but it did not. With that being said, I think tortilla chips would work very nice.

Boozy Birdy

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
LOVED this and I LOVE the bright orange the sazon adds. The only BBQ sauce I use is Gates (Kansas City brand and the best around in my opinion) and it is orange-y too so that just made it extra special. I'll admit that I went lightly on the sauce during the grilling and I also used skinless thighs but only due to our preference. The end result was overall excellent flavor that did not overpower the chicken yet you could still gently pick up on the beer and bbq sauce flavor. Love it Patty Cakes and thank you for sharing!

I added a bit of parsley and season salt but followed the rest to a t and this worked very well for me. I toped it with olives and it was very rich and satisfying.

Max's Cheesy Bacon Dog Treats

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
My little Max LOVED these. He has followed me everywhere I've gone since giving one to him. He is typically not allowed in the kitchen but something tells me he is going to be a mega pest all weekend. This was fun for me to make for my baby and if he could talk, I'm sure he'd be saying, "Thank you Pam!"

Drunk Deer Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
I had to change it up a little based off what I had but it was still great. I used already cooked shredded venison instead of the ground and leftover Kalua Pig roast instead of cubed but I have no complaints whatsoever and I know it would be even better as written. Beans are a must for me with chili so that is something I will always add. Five stars all the way. Leave the seeds in the jalapeno if you like it spicy.

Red Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: May 30, 2015
I was very leery of this recipe but decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. This was very nice. There is just the two of us so I kept the bacon and onions separate and just added them to each serving when we had it. The cabbage stains the cauliflower purple after awhile but not to the point that you don't know what the cauliflower is. We enjoyed this and I will definitely make this again.
