Brazilian White Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
This was simple yet loaded with flavor. The only thing I added was some diced bell pepper because I was needing to use them up. They added a nice flavor to the rice but it would have been great without as well.

Drunk Deer Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
I had to change it up a little based off what I had but it was still great. I used already cooked shredded venison instead of the ground and leftover Kalua Pig roast instead of cubed but I have no complaints whatsoever and I know it would be even better as written. Beans are a must for me with chili so that is something I will always add. Five stars all the way. Leave the seeds in the jalapeno if you like it spicy.

Colorful Coleslaw with a Kick

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This is now my favorite slaw recipe! I read the submitters update and I only used 1/4 cup of oil. I doubled the cilantro and hot sauce (personal preference) and left everything else the same. I have been using a similar one from this site for a couple of years but now that I have discovered this one with the addition of cumin, hot pepper sauce, and a LOT more cilantro, I won't be going back to it. Thank you Doug for sharing your great recipe!

Crawfish Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
We really liked this! I spooned the leftover filling into mini phyllo cups, stuck them under the broiler for a few minutes, and served them as appetizers for the Superbowl and they were a big hit. Thanks for sharing your great recipe Doug!

Dill-icious Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
Well, I cheated a little by using a rotisserie chicken from the store because I had to do my grocery shopping and knew I would be short on time. The only other change I made is that I subbed a turnip for the parsnip because my store didn't have any. EXCELLENT soup Saveur/Halle and I LOVED the addition of dill! I grew up on Reemes noodles but only got them at Thanksgiving time and this was 100% comfort food for this soup lover. Thanks for sharing Saveur!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
I have made this numerous times now but always forget to leave a review. I am still completely dumbfounded over this recipe. It is ridiculously easy and I still have no idea how it is possible to get such great flavorful and tender meat out of something with so few ingredients and insanely simple. 5 stars all the way!

Tangy Shrimp and Scallops

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
I agree with others in the fact that the shrimp held the flavor better BUT they were equally good. I had to marinate seperately because we are on limited supply as to what we can get here and the shrimp were pre-cooked and the scallops were raw. I just marinated them seperately and strung them on their own individual skewers and all was good. I will be making this again!

Striker's Potatoes O'Brien

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
I didn't have green bell pepper so I used all red and I think you could use any color you prefer and get the same results. These were super simple and all I added was a sprinkle of season salt as they were cooking. I plan on making a much bigger batch next time and this is something I plan to have on hand at all times for those breakfast for dinner nights.

Totally Tangy Baked French Fries

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
These were excellent! I did increase the cayenne and chili powder as suggested by the recipe submitter because we do like spicy. We LOVED the mustard flavor in these. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe.

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2010
I didn't follow this recipe exactly but I am still giving it a 5. I did not use the ginger (we hate the flavor) or the MSG (I refuse to buy that) but that is just personal preference. The chicken was to die for and I am already thinking up other ways that I can use this. I did it in my Fry Daddy and I couldn't ask for more perfect results. The sauce was great but the chicken was good enough to stand on its own without any sauce. Again, I am so impressed with the chicken preperation/results that it is difficult for me to rate the overall recipe. This was excellent and we both really enjoyed it. I plan on playing around with the chicken preparation with other meats and I look forward to my experiments!

Chicken a la Camille

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
This is a tasty way to make chicken. I only had thighs so I cut back on the Italian season a tad and I cooked them on the grill but the Italian season really came out and they were very good. I can't wait to try this with breasts.

Bourbon Street Rib-Eye Steak

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
We enjoyed this. All I had was Southern Comfort and it turned out great. I also only had 5 hours and we could still taste it in every bite. I am giving this a 5 because if it were to sit 8 hours as directed, it would have melted in our mouths. I cannot wait to try this again when I have the time to let it sit properly. Thanks for the great recipe!

Oven Fresh Seasoned Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
This turned out great for me and I was very impressed. The only thing I did differently was to spray the cookie sheet with non-stick spray. I served them with a creamy bacon dipping sauce and they were better than any potato wedge appetizer I've ever had in any restaurant. This one is a keeper!

Garlic Crab Legs

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
Hubby brought the crab home to me as a surprise (I had only had it one other time) so I didn't have the corn but we still enjoyed this very much. Thanks! Update: I've made this twice now and I wouldn't change a thing.

Linda's Hearty Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
What a great recipe and from a cook I admire dearly. The only thing I did differently was with the carrots. Mine were large so I only used three and then instead of dicing I left them in slices but only because I am not that great with a knife and never take the chance of losing a fingertip. Thank you Baking Nana for a wonderful recipe!

Dill Pickle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I am giving this a five due to the creativity, the uniqueness of it, the overall easy preperation, and the wonderful flavor combination that made it have its own exotic taste. I did change of a few things yes but with the exception of the 4 tsps. of onion salt, I think the recipe would be very tasty as written. I boiled some peeled diced potatoes in chicken stock as I browned about a half of pound of ground beef and then later added both to the soup ( I like a more hearty soup). I used more pickles and juice and even left some of my pickles in bigger hunks because I really wanted to taste the pickles. VERY good and very unique and even though this is not a soup I would want on a weekly basis, I will be making it over and over throughout the years. Oh, also thought I'd mention that for me 2 tablespoons of butter was not enough to whisk a 1/2 cup of flour but that might have just been me. Pretty simple fix to just keep adding butter until you get your flour smooth but thought I'd mention it in case anyone had any troubles there. Thank you for the most unusual soup this soup loving gal has ever tried!*****update*****I have made this soup 3 times now and it turns out a little different each time but always good. I used pickles with tobasco sauce this go around and that added a nice kick. I do think potatoes are a must and I left out the ground beef this time but will be adding it back next go around. This one has become a favorite in my house. Thanks again!

BLT Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
This was really good. Hubby doesn't care for fresh tomatoes but loves the salsa and lettuce has never done much for me but I LOVED it in this soup. I put mine in after I dipped my bowl out and it gave it a wonderful crunch. I was very impressed with this. Thank you!

This was perfect for that evening I had little time and limited ingredients. Super simple and one I will make again. The tots were a nice change to your ordinary taco salad.
