Easy Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2014
Good recipe, easy to adjust to your liking. Adding crushed red pepper flakes is essential in my opinion. It needs a little spice to taste authentic. Add sugar slowly to sauce, may be too sweet. Yes, that much curry powder is necessary to get through the taste of the peanut butter.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2013
Use large bowls! And You don't need a whole cup of butter. No difference in taste or texture. Use 11 tbsps (1 tbsp less than 3/4cup)instead of 1 cup, make sure to cut in cold, unsalted butter. The edges of the scones are the best part so cut or shape them smaller than suggested, they double in size. These aren't super dense scones, but not too fluffy either. If you cook them about 5 minutes past done, they're even better. Next time I will exclude the egg for even less fluff. The Sour cream when mixed with the baking soda will rise and overflow if you mix it in too small a bowl (like I did). If making cranberry orange scones, I used the zest of 1 large navel orange and it was just barely detecable. Next time I will use 1.5 oranges or 2. Yummy scones! brush with egg wash on top before cooking.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2012
It IS necessary to add the melted butter into the batter. If you don't add the butter into the batter the pancake won't rise as much and it will be more tough and chewy. You can use olive oil as a replacement for the melted butter and that's yummy!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Wow, I am so happy I found this. I haven't actually tried to make it. But last week when I was walking through my apartment building, I smelled someone cooking something delious and I wished it was coming from my apartment, but I thought my husband was for sure not cooking. But it turned out the smell was from my apartment! I saw something that looked like an attempt at chicken stroganoff. What I tried was THE BEST sauce I've ever tasted. It was amazing, I was so confused how he made something so good, I felt embarassed of all my past dishes. I'm on his computer now and the only receipe in the recently viewed is this one... he got the receipe here! I don't know if he followed the directions exactly or not, but I do know he added a little sour cream at the end. This receipe is amazing. SO thankful I know how to make it now :D

Taylor's Piroshki

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
I really like this dough. I made a cabbage stuffing instead (satueed onions cabbage and a little tomato paste, salt pepper and a little cinnamon) and baked them at 350 until they became orangey brown. were really great. next time I will make them bigger so I can put more stuffing inside. Russian flavoring is very simple, so you can really taste the main ingredient. Its very good.............(update)...just made this again (really big this time) with a meat filling half ground veal and half ground beef (about 1.6 lbs total) satueed meat and when almost done, added chopped onions and garlic, then mushrooms, salt pepper and a little tomato paste, and a little parmesan cheese. at the end when it is cooling I put in half a bunch of fresh dill and a few tablespoons of sour cream. baked them and they were really delicious. not nearly as good as on the street in moscow :( but still satisfying and tasty (especially the filling). next time i'll use cabbage again though.

Sole with Bananas

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
banana and sole did not go good together. the instructions for making the sauce should be adjusted a little if you actually want the sauce to thicken, first you need to make a roux. the butter and flour should be cooked together, stirring constantly until it is a light golden brown color. Then slowly add the milk and keep stirring. I would really like this recipe if the bananas were omitted. creative though!

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
for me, it didnt turn out like a peanut butter brownie. it was pretty much like a giant peanut butter cookie. actually exactly like that. not gooey, or fluffy or soft. it was very dense and hard and not really very good. maybe i didn't follow directions closely enough. I think I added more peanut butter than it suggested to.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
not what I expected. I was hoping this would be very dense and very full of zucchinis... its more like a cake with zucchinis for a little moisture and look. so for a cake it is really good.
