Vanilla Wafer Cookies That Are Better Than Storebought

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
These cookies are very good. The recipe is essentially a sugar cookie. I added an extra tsp of vanilla extract because yum. :) I did make them a bit too big, but that was my own fault because I didn't read the '1 tsp at a time' and tried to guess instead. Anyways, so excited to know that I can make my OWN vanilla wafers using REAL ingredients. Thanks for the great recipe.

Corn Muffins

Excellent recipe. I realized halfway through that I didn't have any butter, so I used Olive Oil. Tasted AMAZING! I can't wait to try with butter.

Pie Crust I

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
I made the mistake of deviating away from these proportions today and the resulting pie crust turned out horrible. I then realized that I should rate THIS pie crust - my go to proportions that taught me how to make a proper, flaky crust. I don't think there is a better pie crust recipe out there!

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
I have been making my own pie crusts for several years. I can pretty much do it myself, but I like to pull up a recipe to keep myself organized. I want to urge anybody who is making a pie crust to rethink this recipe. There is FAR too much shortening, which makes the resulting dough too greasy and difficult to work with. I recommend finding a recipe that calls for the appropriate one-third shortening to flour ratio instead. I have been an all-recipes member for years, and this is my first one star review.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2011
I've been using this recipe for almost two years now, so I guess it's about time for me to review it. These biscuits are very easy to prepare, and they yield very big (although the recipe may exaggerate this a little bit) and very fluffy biscuits. I make these for biscuits and gravy, and they pair perfectly. Whenever I need a biscuit recipe, I just look for J.P's big daddy biscuits, because I know they won't ever let me down.

Mahi Mahi with Coconut Rice and Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
Wow, this was incredible and so simple. I loved all of the flavors together! I was expecting the mango to be more of a sauce, but it still came out wonderfully for what it was. I'll be making this again for sure!

Whole Wheat Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
I'm hooked on this Zucchini bread! My family requested that I make some, and after trying a grossly sweet recipe with poor flavor, I was determined to find something that would yield what everybody was craving. We stumbled upon this, and it sounded delicious. It tastes as delicious as it sounds. I followed the recipe to a tee. The batter looked very thick and like it would end up being a dry bread, but the end result was surprisingly moist, perfectly sweet, and 100% eatable. My new staple zucchini bread recipe for sure!!!

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
my boyfriend loves a "thick" soup, and I have known as long as I've been cooking for him that Chicken and Dumplings is the best way to satisfy him. I have used several base recipes from this website, but tonight we had this one, and I have to say that out of all of them I've tried this yielded the most (enough to satisfy four with GIGANTIC appetites) The Cream of chicken soup gave it an amazing flavor! I did make several changes that I think were key to my own success, although I KNOW that the recipie on it's own deserves the 4 1/2 stars. First of all, instead of water I used Chicken broth. This gave it a much more dynamic flavor. Also, I used an entire chicken (cut in 8 pieces and then shredded later) and cooked it for the regular time. I used far more vegetables than the recipe called for. I cooked it very slow (probably about 2 1/2 hours on a lower heat) and I added the carrots and potatoes in the first stage of the cooking. I also used the dumpling recipe found in the very first review and they were phenomenal! Every time I make chicken and dumplings from now on I'm going to use this recipie!!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
We buy ground meat all the time, and were looking for a new way to prepare it. This was the way to go, for sure! It was very easy and very forgiving. We used ground turkey instead of ground beef, and cooking wine instead of cooking sherry and we served it with yam, biscuits, and asparagus. It took very little time to prepare, and the whole family loved it (especially my boyfriend who was like a fly the entire time I was making it) We all loved this recipe and have added it to our ground meat rotation!

Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
these came out incredible! I was a little nervous about the graham crackers sticking together at first, but the measurements were spot on. They came out very creamy with the perfect hint of strawberry and they were gone in less than a day (amongst 5 people) Just make sure they really cool down before you try and take them out of the tray We had a delicious casualty from our impatience...

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Wow! This recipe was surprisingly easy and even more surprisingly delicious. The flavors all blended nicely together and contained a ton of depth. I made it for my boyfriend and I for dinner about a half and hour ago, and he swears it is the best thing I've ever made. I followed the recipe almost exactly to a tee, with the following changes: I grilled the chicken instead of baking it (just because we prefer the taste) but I kept all of the seasonings the same. The chicken on it's own was delicious enough to be devoured. Also, I used chicken bouillon instead of broth, but that was just because we were out. I am sure it tastes even better with broth. We also used about 1/8 cup more heavy cream, but that's because we felt it was an itty bitty bit thick. I think everybody, beginner or expert, should try this recipe. It will not disappoint!

Banana Banana Bread

this recipe is what got me into cooking. It is so simple and it is perfectly moist. I have made it 20+ times, and I think I will continue to make it for the rest of my life. I followed a fellow reviewer and made a brown sugar glaze, and I'd have to say that's the most delicious part!
