Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
I guess I like my sweet breads to be sweet, or at least have some flavor, this was the most flavorless banana bread I have ever had. There's a reason most the 5 star reviews have added a bunch of ingredients because as written this bread has no flavor and had they made it as written it would not get a 5 star review.

Copper Penny Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
I used 1 cup sugar instead of splenda because I don't have splenda in the house. I also added 1 teaspoon mustard and 1 teaspoon worcestershire for some extra flavor

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
1ST the easy part: I handed all the ingredients to my 9 year old daughter and let her mix this up. She was so thrilled with "her" cooking being such a great hit at Thanksgiving. Now the Awesome part: My cousin begged for half the leftovers, my 13 year old ate all our leftovers the next day, and now just a few days after Thanksgiving my husband is begging me to make it again. I told him I would make it as is instead of doubling like I did for Thanksgiving. He said that was fine as long as the rest of us didn't want any :)

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2011
This was really good. I sautéed some onion with the hamburger. I was out of stewed tomatoes so I just used a can of reg old diced ones, and I completely forgot the sugar but didn't miss it at all. The soup had fantastic flavor and was a great way to use up all of those little left over bags of veggies I Had in the freezer.

Almost Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
It was good but just wasn't like our stuffed peppers. I added a can of tomato soup and that is what was missing! Served it with shredded cheddar cheese at the table and it was fantastic! Hubs had 3 plate fulls!!

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
I made this over the weekend while camping. I split all the ingredients by 4 and made into individual foil packets, lots easier to maneuver on the grill that way, and we could just open our packets and eat right out of them so clean up was easy too!

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
My husband took this salad to work last summer and this year I am over flowing with cucumbers from gardening coworkers that are hoping I will make it again. :) I salted the cucumbers and let them set for two hours, drained then added all the ingredients without cooking. Very easy.

Pesto Tuna Salad with Sun-Dried Tomatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
"It wasn't a total waist." That was my husbands response. My kids, who love tuna - "ick" and even I couldn't get over the overwhelming pesto taste just from a finger dipping. We made a fresh batch of our traditional tuna salad rather than eat this.

Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes With Mini Marshmallows

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
I made a few changes. I removed the flesh and hand mashed. I was out of buttermilk so I substituted a bit of sour cream and used less milk because I didn't want it runny. I added brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I scooped back into the potato while it was still very hot. Add mini french vanilla marshmallows - they were all I had on hand but added fantastic flavor!

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
Same as my husband has been making for years except we never cook them in water. We cook them one of two ways. In a chicken soup base to make homemade chicken noodle soup, or the day after we have a pot roast. He makes them huge and wide then and we cook them in the juice from the pot roast. Serve them with the juice poured over them and salted. mmmmmmm Comfort food at it's finest.

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
Mine had an overpowering potato taste. I did a quick fix by adding some brown sugar and apricot preserves to add the hint of sweetness I was expecting from the squash. We had this as a side to pork steaks. On my own bowl I also chopped up my meat and added it to my soup.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
Very good. I had a ton of left over smoked pork from a cookout. We were so sick of bbq pulled pork sandwiches. Made this pot pie and substitute the pork for the chicken. The whole family gobbled it up like we hadn't had pork all week already.

Cozy Cottage Beef Stew Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
Soup, stew, who cares. It is fantastically delicious. One of my favorite recipes. The only changes I make are minor. I sauté the onion and mushrooms in a little garlic then seared the meat before adding to the crockpot. I add enough of the liquids to cover the meat and potatoes and then set the remainder on the counter to be added as it cooks IF needed. I serve with homemade french bread.

Tuna Lime Tostadas

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
I loved this but I did have to change it up a little due to food allergies. I used homemade GF tortilla's that I pan fried until crispy as my base. I used the white tune, onion, cilantro, lime, salt, and pepper as called for. I took out the corn and replaced with mushrooms and black olives and added extra salsa because I love it. Replaced the hot sauce with old bay. Then topped with avocado. This way it was GF, corn and dairy free and still something I could eat. Thank you for a recipe that could be modified to my diet and still taste great. I would never have though to try it with out this recipe as a starting off point.
