French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I'm almost 35 weeks pregnant and refused to slave over a stove on Christmas Day so I pulled this recipe out of my archive and am so glad I did! This casserole was too easy and so good! I prepared and baked it as is and made my own syrup...WOW!!! I almost didn't get any! Thanks for sharing something so easy, ill be sure to use this after the baby comes!

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
Like other, I'm making this for out 'Budget Christmas', me and the hubby just purchased our first home! I was not paying close attention at the grocery store and accidentally purchased Non-Fat Powdered Milk instead od of regular milk. After searching around I could not find regular powdered milk. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly as printed and dissolved 1/3 cup of the mix in 1 cup of water and it was very bland, could be due to the Non-Fat powdered milk. However, I added more Quik powdered milk and powdered sugar, a lot, and upped the mix to 1/2 cup and it's nice and rich. I also made homemade marshmallows and plan to give that away along with oatmeal cookies in a jar. Thank you for the recipe!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
I made this cheescake for 'Happy Friday' at work and EVERYONE loved it!!!! I added another 8oz brick of cream cheese, a full 8oz cup of pumpkin and I have a really good recipe for graham cracker crust so I used that. I topped of cheesecake with chopped walnuts mixed in sugar and caramel topping. OMGosh!!! It's 10:20am here and the cheesecake is almost gone. This recipe is outstanding and perfect for the holidays! FYI - the crust recipe is: 1 cup finely crushed graham crachers, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg and 5 tablespoons melted butter, I use salted. You can't go wrong with SOUTHERNBELLE0908's suggestion and this crust!!! Thanks!

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
I made these muffins last night and they were a hit this morning when I brought them to work! I followed the recipe 99.9%, I used vegetable oil instead of olive oil, and these are so moist and flavorful!!! The combination of pumpkin cake/muffin and cream cheese is absolutely AMAZING!!!! The stuesel topping is really good. The batter is really sweet but the finished product is perfect! I noticed that a lot of people added nutmeg, allspice, cloves, etc I love the recipe the way it is but I will try it with all the different spices next time. This is a perfect way to begin the fall. Thanks so much for sharing!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
Taste wise this frosting is right on point. As far as consistency this frosting SUCKS as is!!! It's too runny to put on cupcakes. I was getting VERY frustrated because I kept having to add powdered sugar and I still did not get the consistency of frosting. I'm refrigerating what I did not use overnight and I'll see how it comes out tomorrow morning. This recipe deserves a 2 but the taste is like no other so I give it an extra star. HEADS UP -Have at least 3-5 cups powdered sugar, additional.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
These biscuits were amazing! They didn't tas like flour, which is greatly appreciated. I only put 3/4 cups of milk because one whole cup looked like it was too much. Overall really good recipe that I will use again! Thanks!

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

My husband had a cold that turned into a respitory/throat infection and this recipe came in handy! I added my own flavoring to suit our taste buds but overall it's a great comfort soup. Thanks!

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
This muffin is a great way to start the morning.I followed the recipe exactly as described and they turned out beautifully! They're moist, sweet but not overwhelming, the apple-raisin combination is very tasteful and gives the muffin a nice healthy crunch. I would never imagine these muffins being less that 200 calories. If I could find more recipes like this, eating healthy would be a breeze. I'm just starting to take charge of my health and this muffin is a great start, seriously. I just ate half and I plan to devour the other half after lunch. Thanks Jaclyn!!!

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
Yum, yum, yum!!! This recipe is splendid! I did what a lot of other reviewers did, doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9x13 inch baking dish. I'm not a chocolate fan so I used butterscotch morsels and I did not have walnuts so I omitted those too. I can't wait until christmas time, this recipe will be part of my gift baskets! Thanks for sharing!

Famous Chicken Adobo

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
This recipe was a winner in my household! The only con is too much pepper. Next time I will use 1/2 tblspn of pepper. I see why low sodium soy sauce is recommended. If you use the original soy sauce the outcome could be too salty. Thanks for sharing!

Sweet Potato Souffle

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
I think I'll be using this as a sweet potato pie substitute. It has the same consistency as a sweet potato but less sweet. The only con that I have is that the pecan-brown sugar-butter-flour topping is too sweet for my taste. Now I love candy and sweet but the topping is just overwhelming for me, just a personal observation. Overall very good recipe. It's so 'southern like'!

Toscana Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
This soup was absolutely AMAZING!!!! I wouldn't have done anything different. I could not believe how easy it was. The flavor, consistency and texture was right on point. Now that I know how to make this soup I will not be ordering it at the Olive Garden anymore. If you follow the recipe as is you should have the same results. Witht the exception of what type of sausage links you use. The flavor of the soup has a lot to do with the sausage and obviously the chicken base. Now that I think about it I use chicken boullion seasoning instead of chicken broth. The flavor was more potent and tasted like an actual soup!!! I noticed that some reviewers said that the soup was too thin but it's supposed to be that way. Just an FYI. Thanks for this terrific receipe.

Very good and easy to make! I was getting really lazy at the end so I put very large dough drops down. Overall they came out really good! I used french vanilla instant pudding and used tip #32 with my pastry bag. I will be using this recipe again for dinner parties. Thanks for sharing!

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
This recipe is THE BEST cornbread I have ever eaten!!! I grew up on Jiffy and will NOT be going back. The texture and taste are out of this world! Please make sure you read the directions carefully. The recipe calls for 2 1/2 cups of milk. The directions don't include the milk but make sure you add it! Thanks for sharing.
