About this Cook
As one who was always intimidated by all of the esoteric utensils, spices and other ingredients, watching Top Chef for a few years made me realized that cooking was something I could have fun with - combining my love of eating with my love of playing the mad scientist!
My favorite things to cook
Home-made chili mac, and spaghetti squash from the garden!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad makes a dynamite curried egg, and the best pork roast I've ever eaten. Wish I'd have paid more attention back when he tried to teach me... but at that time, taking more than 10 minutes to prepare something to eat seemed like a waste of time. *sigh*
My cooking triumphs
Coming up with a way for folks who don't like the texture of fried okra to enjoy fried okra!
My cooking tragedies
The time I was marinating some beef for jerky, and thought I'd make some fajitas with some of the beef... seemed like it soaked up all of the sodium in the marinade as well as the sodium from everything else in the fridge!
