Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2014
Yay! I gave this recipe 4 stars because it turned out delicious even though I had to make several tweaks (lack of ingredients) and eyeball the ingredients because I only wanted to make one burger. As suggested by the the other reviewers, I also added a couple shakes of Worchestershire and soy sauce, used garlic powder instead of garlic. I wouldn't mistake it for a beef burger, but it was good for what it was!

Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I want to preface this by saying I feel like a total noob after making this mac and cheese. Things I would do differently in the future making this recipe, that maybe other people automatically know to do but I didn't: (1) cook the whole box of macaroni noodles, not 2 cups measured out; (2) melt the cheese product and mix it with the noodles to cover before dividing; (3) don't get distracted when I think the milk isn't getting hot fast enough. -- I have hope that with these clarifications, especially the first two, this recipe could be 4-5 star worthy the next time around. This time some of my noodles on the edge got dry and crackly from not having enough cheese on them.

Cajun Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2013
Yummy! I had to give this one a 4 because I was looking for spicy (Cajun) and the base recipe didn't contain any zip. I halved the recipe because it was just me, and it was too much to eat, even though it was delicious. After tossing the potatoes in olive oil, I added the full tsp of garlic (yay garlic) all the seasonings except the onion powder, which I didn't have. I forgot the pepper (oops) but added 1/8 tsp of Cayenne Powder - which was plenty, and I like spice. The potatoes definitely needed a dipping sauce - next time I might try a couple of the other reviewers' suggestions, like microwaving or boiling the slices first, in an attempt to retain some more moisture. Still, yum! Will keep this in my recipe box.

Hot and Spicy Tofu

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2013
This was my first attempt at any tofu dish, and I couldn't be happier. I maybe went a little overboard with the peanut oil, so it did have more of a deep-fried texture, and I made sure it was nice and crispy on all sides. I was really afraid it would be crispy outside and mush inside, but it tasted good all around. I combined two suggestions and splashed some soy sauce on the tofu and tossed it in the freezer for 15 minutes before frying it. I used the whole amount of red pepper flakes and two (not-very-spicy) jalapeno peppers and thought it had just the right amount of spice. I used 3/4 of a yellow onion because it's what I had on hand, and after I tossed the veggies in I sprinkled some garlic powder and ground ginger on top. Also, I waited until I only had about 2 minutes left of cooking the veggies (out of 5) to add the garlic, so it wouldn't burn. I added about 1/2 tsp of honey and a dash of Worcestershire to the sauce, because I felt like it. This is a keeper~

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
As is, it was just okay. I had some chicken breasts and boiled those first in the broth. I used 4 stalks of celery and about half a bag of baby carrots halved. I used all the ingredients specified except for the salt and finding flavor lacking I added basil, thyme, oregano, pepper and garlic salt. This made it edible... It's probably better if you use a whole roast chicken already seasoned, I just didn't have one. But I'll try another recipe next time!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
Don't eat this the first day!! It's okay the second... best the third, or frozen and then reheated! Yes, it's work, but it's delicious and worth it. If I make the full recipe, I have leftovers x10 AFTER I share some with the family. This is a keeper.

Quick Pickled Jalapeno Rings

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
Everything I was looking for! Easy, quick, and after 4 weeks, very tasty! Can't wait to put these on everything :) Just two quick notes: (1) I put this batch in 4 pint sizes, and I think as a result I was short on the liquid mixture in the end. I ended up boiling some water in the microwave really quick and mixing with a dash of vinegar, but next time I will increase the liquid by half to make sure I have plenty. (2) I was pretty pessimistic about the oregano - not a big fan. But I followed the recipe exactly despite my misgivings and it turned out great.

Cheese's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
I love this! I have made it twice now and it's so delicious every time. Only make sure you work in the flour good, because once I think I didn't integrate it well enough and the cheese mixture tasted just a bit "floury". Oh... and it takes a bit of time! More than 20 minutes for me at least. But worth it!

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
SO GOOD! The only thing I did differently was leave out the bacon, because we had plenty of that on the side. It was the hit of the morning and both dishes were decimated by the time everyone left. It's a bit of work with the prep, but I will definitely be making again! EDIT: Made it again, this time left out the ham, because all I had was bacon, and I used almost a whole package. Instead of using pie tins, I filled a 9x13 cake pan. It was really good again, but after finishing 3 slices, my dad was surprised to hear there was bacon in it!

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
I saved this recipe because of the base ingredients! It really makes for a delicious stuffed green pepper. However, I cook the rice separately, then mix it with the tomatoes, meat and spice. This is because of past experiences where the rice just does not get cooked enough otherwise... I rinse off the ground beef after cooking and before mixing to get rid of excess fat! (You can make 80% lean into 90%+ lean this way.) I use about 3/4 of the cheese in the mix, and add the rest on top at the end of cooking. Yum yum yum yum!!

Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
It was OK. I was looking for a new way to spice up my chicken, so I decided to try this... but I've had much better luck just tossing spices I know I like together in a bag. I don't think I would go back to this recipe again.

Erin's Indonesian Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Very good and reasonably easy! I followed the recipe to the letter for a delicious meal in. :) The only thing my boyfriend and I will do differently next time is double the chili paste - not sure if it's the kind we got, but it just wasn't spicy enough for us!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
Was really looking forward to this, but for me it was just okay... I followed the suggestions to cut the eggs and milk. I cut the brown sugar in half put the glaze on top - I did like the way the glaze turned out and may use that in the future. In the end, it just didn't have that much flavor. Leftovers were better, but not up to expectations. Next time I will make the spicy cajun meatloaf recipe from this site again. :)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
These were amazing, and lived up to all of the positive reviews. I was skeptical when I first saw this recipe... but my boyfriend requested them for his birthday, so what could I do? I made the cookie dough exactly as stated. However, the box cake mix I bought was 15.something oz instead of the 18.25oz that the recipe specified, so I just made the cake according to the direction on the box since the measurements were a bit different. I tried to use up all the cookie dough to make the balls as big as possible - this paid off in a really nice big gooey center. I froze them overnight and half a day. When everything was ready, I plopped the cookie dough on top of the cake mix and pressed it in just gently. The result was almost perfect. A couple cupcakes had a little dough sticking out the top. A couple had caved just slightly in the center, leaving a small air pocket. Neither affected the deliciousness. I highly recommend trying this recipe! Thank you to the submitter. :)

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
This was awesome. I cut it in half (and glad I did) but other than that made as the directions stated and it was delicious. I got many compliments on the few I could bring myself to share - definitely keeping this recipe! I was hoping the cookies would turn out a little fluffier, but that doesn't keep this from being 5 stars!
