About this Cook
I'm a mom of 6. All are grown except the youngest who is almost 17. They all still call or come see Mom to find out how to make this or that. I love down home cooking and Italian fare.
My favorite things to cook
Potato and pasta dishes are my favorites. I also love dishes that contain cheese... and lots of it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like having people with me when I cook, not just for the help, but for the company.
My cooking tragedies
Oh... um, the day that I was making chili from scratch (complete with starting from dried kidney beans) and I got the "cumin" out of the dark pantry... and without looking started adding it... I was horrified when I caught a whiff of cinnamon. Everyone ate it, no one commented... I think I covered it up pretty well.... Lesson learned. Always look at the label... more than once!

No-Bake Peanut Butter Cookies III
This recipe is excellent. I made no adjustments to the ingredients. (Word of warning -- no bakes can be finicky, alter recipes at your own risk because they may not set up correctly!) The one review I read that said they were too sweet -- I don't think so. There are a lot of things I won't eat because they are too sweet or too rich, and these aren't. It comes together easily and they set up quickly. Make sure you melt your butter before adding the milk and sugar, bring it to a boil over medium high heat and turn it down to medium when you get it to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Using a whisk is best for stirring while boiling and for mixing in the peanut butter, then use a large spoon for mixing in the oatmeal. Allow to set up and cool, then enjoy.

No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
Just made this recipe. They are rich and chocolaty with a nice hint of peanut butter. They come together easily and set up quickly. Will definitely make this again... it will become my go-to no-bake chocolate cookie recipe.

Dad's Pan-Fried Green Beans
I just finished making this recipe. I didn't use sesame oil because I didn't have any... so I used EVOO instead and I think the recipe is wonderful. A refreshing change for green beans without being overpowering. If I get the sesame oil, I'll try this recipe again that way and update this review. Will definitely be making these again!
