Apricot Jam Pots

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2015
As far as flavor these are buttery and very sweet. Too sweet for me in fact. A word of warning - when it says fill 3/4 full it means it. I did do this according to the directions and still feel like I over filled them. They boiled all over the cupcake pans and into the oven. I would also check them at 15 and 20 minutes as this may have contributed to the problem. I did not remove stars from the recipe for what I feel may be my error.

Jan's Jalapeno Popper Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2015
I really like the filling for this. What I had was really 3 stars worth but feel it is my fault as the purchased pizza crust was too thick for this thin crust lover. Next time I will make my own crust and it will be really yummy!

Sweet, Spicy, and Salty Popcorn

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2015
A very unusual combo that grows on you. Next time I may cut back on the honey as this a little too sweet for me. Perfect for game day with it's not your normal popcorn taste.

Mushroom and Jack Cheese Quesadillas

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2015
This is a wonderful meatless meal. So easy to do, it would be good for a quck meal as I have the ingredients on hand most of the time. I made it according to the recipe and here is how I would tweak it going forward: Cut back on the mayonaise and omit the jalapeno. Both are personal preferences and I won't count it down because of that. I will make again and again.

Men's Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2015
This is really good. I too say make with all the ingredients, then if you want to tweak do it on the second go around. I think I would omit the sugar as is it on the sweet side. I was happy that the jalapeno did not overpower this. It does need to simmer to marry the flavors.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2015
Very good. I made these as a dry run for the Super Bowl appys and will be making them on game day. I did fry the wings to brown them, then baked in the oven until done before adding the sauce. Yummy!

Chicken Mushroom Dijon

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2015
This is wonderful! Simple enough to make on a weeknight, but it would also make a very elegant company meal. The only changes I made was to make the chicken into cubes instead of the leaving the breasts whole as I knew this would make several meals for just me and I used an envelope of chicken gravy as that is what I had on hand. Next time (there will be a lot of next times) I would make my own gravy with sodium free broth, flour and milk to reduce the sodium content.

Ultimate Guinness® Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
Recipe group 1/17/2015: I love the flavor the beer imparts to this. The veggies and herbs this calls for are just right. I will make again. Not sure what I will do with 3 more bottles of Guinness, I I bet I think of something! :-D

Baked Lentils with Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2014
What a lovely way to have lentil stew! This was so comforting on a cold winter night and I truly enjoyed it. I did omit the green pepper as I am not really a fan of it. Otherwise I made it as written.

Fairy Godmother Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
So much to love about this rice. Wonderful flavors, crunch and it is pretty. The leftovers are even better. I do need to be low sodium so instead of the rice mix and dried onion soup mix I mixed wild and long grain rice, chopped onion, parsley and used low sodium beef boullion to reduce the sodium content.

I too have had this recipe for years and it is my go-to recipe for pie crust. Very tender crust!

Peach Orange Iced Tea

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2014
I love peach tea and orange tea, so this is reight up my alley. Even though I am not one for sweet tea, I ended up adding 1/2 teaspoon of Splenda as it was not sweet enough for me. I would make again.

The Mushroom Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2014
This is a unique taste. I love mushrooms, cooked, raw, everyway there is. I made as written. Next time I think I would cook the mushrooms (barely) to make this more mellow.

Autumn Pork Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2014
This was a scrumpious roast. I like the presentation of this and the blend of flavors in it. I added some dried (re-hydrated) apple to this as I wanted plenty of apple flavor and need to use the dried apple I have. Other than that I made it as written. Loved what it did for the squash! I will be making this again.

Caramel Apple Box Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
I took this to the fellowship hour at church. Everyone raved and had to have the recipe. I usually make a recipe as written when making for the first time; however I was not at all sure that a layer cake would transport easily. So here is what I did: I made the cake as written, removed from the pan and cooled. Instead of splitting and filling the cake I made a coller for the pan, placed it back in the 9x13 and put the pie filling on top. I then mixed up the pudding and poured it on the pie filling and chilled until solid. I frosted with the Cool Whip and sprinkled pecans on top. I omitted the caramel ice cream topping all togather as I like tart and felt it would add too much sweetness. I will make this again, maybe next time with the ice cream topping.

Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2014
Recipe group 8/23/14 This was so good as a hot weather supper. Easy to make and very refreshing. I ommitted the red bell pepper as I don't like it. Nice twist on the bruschetta recipe I usually use.

Sassy Freezer Slaw

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2014
Made for Recipe Group 8/17/2014. Back in the '70's I made a simalar salad that we all loved. I thought this was better than I remembered perhaps as the one way back when had green bell pepper in it. Thank you Sassy for a delicious salad that can be made ahead and is always good.
