About this Cook
A young couple who melded the food we grew up on, and built on it to make something all our own. The Mr. discovered talent and ambition for cooking, the Mrs. added her instinct, and there began a journey to feeding their family of 3, and many others who happen to be wherever we are at dinnertime.
My favorite things to cook
Something old, something new, something borrowed, but nothing blue (unless it has blueberries in it).
My favorite family cooking traditions
With the little one emerging with a passion for cooking it's really fun when we can make cooking dinner a family activity. Thanksgiving is also a hit with us (every year we try to do something different with the turkey).
My cooking triumphs
Homegrown basil made into a pesto served over homemade ravioli. The best family recipe of homemade chicken noodle soup imaginable. A wonderful Orange Goose. Apple pie from scratch. Hawaiian Teryaki Chicken. A family recipe of Broken Glass Salad (first time alone), including a very low-sugar version (adapted on the spot). So many more.
My cooking tragedies
A brined turkey that got everyone sick. A ton of batches of cookies (not sure the Mrs. has ever made an unburnt cookie).

Banana Muffins II
Soft and flavorful. Super quick and easy! I love a good baking recipe that's delicious on it's own, but also plays well with minor adjustments. I have tried substituting some of the white sugar with brown sugar, delicious. I often add sliced almonds just before putting into the muffin cups. A splash of vanilla made an amazing addition as well.

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies
So stinkin' easy, my little guy loved making them and he could help with all steps but of course putting them in the oven. We did make a criss-cross pattern on them, it just seemed right and my son threw in the last quarter of a bag of chocolate chips. Besides that followed exactly. The 1 dozen really made 2 for me. They come out fragile. Let them cool for about 2 minutes and they are ready to eat.

Chocolate Cakes with Liquid Centers
Very easy instructions to follow, an instant favorite. I cooked for slightly longer because my oven is older. The only caution that I have is that after the cakes had cooled, the middles had cooked by carry-over cooking. Eat them right away! =D
