I am Southern born and raised now living in a complete different world, especially when it comes to foods. My husband works for the Veterans Affairs Hospital and was transferred to Michigan in 2004 and we are actually loving it. I'm learning new foods to cook and having a ball.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is anything as long as it turns out well. I hate to work on something and have it turn out just ok. My husband's favorite is Chicken Biriyani. It takes a while but is well worth it. I got a manual pasta maker for Christmas one year and finally used it. I have a new love!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I loved to watch my mom cook. She is the best cook I know. It's never anything fancy, but it's always so good. She puts her heart in to every thing that she cooks. Her dressing on Thanksgiving I guess is my all time very favorite thing she fixes.
My cooking triumphs
I just recently experimented as I was cooking a Chicken Marsala recipe, which my husband hates mushrooms and I love them...so I made a lemon, basil and butter sauce with a splash of marsala and he had a fit. He said it was the best thing he had ever eaten. I have to perfect it then I might share it with you!
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had that many tragedies or nothing that wasn't edible but I guess the one thing was when I attempted to make porcupine meat balls. The rice didn't cook and it was crunchy. I haven't tried again. Me and rice don't get along very well!
