Spiced Banana Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
This was delicious! Very moist and flavorful... and I loved the chewy texture of the oats in the cake. My family doesn't like a lot of frosting, so I glazed it with a Vanilla Glaze, which was just right!

Spiced Sweet Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2010
This is delicious, healthy, & SO easy to make! I didn't have any tahini on hand, so I just omitted it, and it tastes just fine without it. I will be dipping into it for lunch this week with whole wheat pita bread, carrots, celery and green onions. Thank you!

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
This is a DELICIOUS marinade! My whole family of 5 absolutely LOVED the chicken and couldn't get enough... and I have some picky kids. They have asked me to make this again - yippee!! I think I put the chicken in the marinade in the morning before work, and cooked it that evening. The chicken was truly full of flavor. We served it with Edamame and whole-wheat dinner rolls, but will serve it with rice next time. Thank you!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2012
Wow... Yum!! This recipe is full of flavor and my family loved it. What I loved about it is that it is so EASY to throw together and quick to cook. 22 minutes - start to finish - BAM!! Thank you, Kate. I threw some flour in a bowl, added salt & pepper, then dredged the chicken in it. I also sprinkled some cornstarch into the sauce mixture before adding to the pan and it thickened up nicely!

Golden Yam Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2010
FANTASTIC!! These are SOOO moist and delicious! My husband actually said this might be his favorite of the desserts I've made. I followed advice from some reviewers and cut back on the sugar by 1/2 cup (will cut back more next time cuz it's still VERY sweet) and I one and a half'ed the icing... however I felt it was too much. Perhaps that's why these brownies were a bit too sweet?? In any event, these were very yummy and I highly recommend this recipe! Oh! just wanted to add that the grating of the yam was easy... it doesn't take long... and it's definitely the way to go!!

Cheddar Baked Chicken

This is one of my family's FAVORITE recipes! I have made it several times, and have had the kids make it a couple times - which is rather fun for them. We call it Porcupine Chicken. Thanks for the submission!

Broccoli and Ramen Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
This is a wonderful recipe! I plan on making it many times this summer to go with grilled chicken. It's simple, light and very flavorful. I think it's a crowd-pleaser and will remember it next time I need something for a Potluck. I did use less sugar (and it was plenty sweet) and used Asian Flavored Ramen noodles. Thanks for the submission!

Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
Okay - my 9-yr-old daughter HATES green beans... she will have nothing to do with them! I had her help me make these green beans and she thought the sauce smelled SO good that she actually wanted to try them. She LOVED these green beans - and so did the rest of our family! I made a bunch, and every last bean was eaten up. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe!!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
Wow!!! I was a little afraid to make this cake because quite a few reviewers talked about how soft and difficult to work with it is. But it turned out PERFECT for me - first try! It is VERY moist, so my husband loved it, and so did everyone else! I didn't think there was a lot of flavor, but it was super easy to make, super moist, and it baked up beautifully. I will make this again and again. I made it in a bundt pan and baked for exactly 45 minutes. Used the Satiny Chocolate Glaze for the top which was perfect. The cake lasted about a day and a half, and as soon as it was gone, my family started requesting I make it again. Thank you for such a wonderful submission!!

Chef John's Beef Goulash

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
Full of flavor, and simple to make. Loved this! I actually threw this together after work without advance planning... I pulled some stew meat out of freezer & happened to have all the ingredients on hand. Didn't have enough stew meat, so added in some sliced carrots after awhile. My family of five really liked this!! Next time, I will garnish w/ a dollop of sour cream which I think will add much to the flavor. Thanks for sharing!

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This was my 1st attempt at making popcorn balls. Made them with my kids for my daughter's Halloween party. Thought it would be fun to stir in some Halloween candy to make them more festive, but the M&M's melted and turned the whole batch kindof 'muddy'-looking. To save the day... my daughter came up with a gross sounding name 'Black Cat Hairballs', we put them in plastic bags, made up some cute tags and tied the tags on with yarn. They ended up looking pretty cute and she was proud to hand them out to her classmates. One of the teachers even asked for the recipe. They were surprisingly easy to make and turned out soft & chewy. Would make again. Thanks for the submission!

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: May 18, 2010
Hmmm... I thought this was a bit bland, but tasty enough for a healthy dish - and healthy enough to try again. I used 3 whole onions and felt they weren't enough. Next time, I will use at least 5 onions(cuz that's my favorite part!), and add spices to the lentils while cooking... and maybe shredded carrots too! I didn't have the time to make this all at once, so I cooked the lentils til soft, then cooked the rice in my rice cooker while I was gone. When I got home, I just stirred the rice into the lentils & proceeded w/ recipe.
