About this Cook
I'm a Mom of 2 daughters and grammie to 5. I'm so lucky to live within 15 minutes of all my family in rural Kentucky just south of Louisville. I love my job as an RN in surgery. I was given the nickname of T-Bone in the OR; I like it because I'm like a t-bone steak; you treat me well and I'm so tender, but if you mistreat me, I get tough.
My favorite things to cook
Has to be desserts....I love the challenge of a great cake from scratch. I have several old fund-raising cookbooks from local churches, schools and some from out of town. I love looking up "new" recipes from them. When we vacation on the gulf coast, I love to buy fresh caught seafood and try out recipes that just don't taste the same with seafood bought frozen at Kroger. ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Each of my grands have their own special homemade cupcake that are always served at their birthdays. Strawberry for my strawberry lover,Rylee, chocolate chip red velvet cupcakes we call Ladybug cakes for my Saydee and key lime cupcakes for Hayden, the 3rd generation bleeds green john deere lover.
My cooking triumphs
I'll try any recipe once-I don't find cooking intimidating. My daughters always take a picture of my food on my holiday table before we eat. I'm encouraged to start a catering business by friends and family who eat my cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I remember my grandmother made a scratch jam cake with caramel icing each December 1st which would be wrapped up and stored until Christmas. When served, it was awesome. I want to come up with my own traditional holiday cake that is a must-have at Christmas. This years attempt was a Tres leches cake (sorta for the three wise men). the cake was swimming in an inch of milk when I cut into it when my whole family came for christmas at my house. even my outside cats wouldn't eat it! Terrible!!

Pizza On The Grill I
Great recipe! Adding the basil and garlic to the crust, then grilling gave it great flavor. I made homemade sauce and had an assortment of pizza toppings for each family member to make their own pizza. Thanks for sharing!!

Grilled Peaches and Cream
This was awesome!. I made it more of a shortcake by also toasting some slices of pound cake on the grill and drizzling with amaretto before serving

Cherry Mash Bars
Thanks for sharing this recipe. Never heard of cherry mash but made these for my cherry loving husband for the holidays. He loved them. I'm not sure about the chocolate/peanut butter/cherry combination myself but I will make them again for my mate.
