Rhubarb Dream Bars

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
OMG! My husband who rarely gets excited about stuff like new recipes said that this was "a keeper!" I followed some of the suggestions of other cooks...used a generous 2 1/2 cups of sugar (instead of 3 )and probably a little more rhubarb (5 cups?). Also baked for about 10 mins. more the center custard seemed very loose at 35 mins. I would follow another suggestion to PAM the sides of the pan...I cut along the edges when they were hot so that they wouldn't stick too much. These are deliciousssss! Best if eaten the day you make them... they get a little runny as time goes on.

Fasoliyyeh Bi Z-Zayt (Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil)

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
This met both of my criteria for a 5 star recipe...simple and delicious! My husband is Lebanese and we make something similar with fresh green beans but there are onions and tomato paste in it too. I think that I could add those to this recipe if I wanted and it would be just as delicious! This is a keeper for sure!

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
This was very good! I followed advise from others and pre-cooked the pie crusts for 5 mins. before filling them. I also used fresh baby spinach that I sort of cut up before adding to the sour cream & s&p. It was easy and tasted fine. I have to say, they smelled delish while cooking and there is a good chance that I will be making this again.

Brown Sugar Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Wow! Not for anyone watching their calories and weight but...wow! Shared a piece with a friend this morning: her review..."it was the BEST thing I have EVER put into my mouth!" I think that pretty much sums it up. Made it exactly as stated but used the frosting from Caramel Poundcake recipe. Delish.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: May 9, 2012
This was ok. I would have to tweak it if I made it again. It was too sweet for my tastes and had a pretty 'HOT' after-bite!

Pecan Pie Bars I

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
These are EXCELLENT!!! Made them for my SIL's family and they were a hit. Have made them a number of times since and everyone LOVES them. I use my large sided jelly roll pan and they come out very uniformly done. Smell delicious too! These are the best!

Penne and Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
This is excellent! I have made this a number of times and am surprised that I hadn't taken the time to review it! I sub fat-free 1/2 and 1/2 for the whipping cream but otherwise I make it as directed. It is simpe and EXCELLENT!

Flaky Food Processor Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
This was an "ok" recipe. Easy because it is made in the food processor but I found it kind of crumbly to roll out. Also...it only makes a single crust. Wish this was specified on the recipe itself!

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
I thought that this was DELICIOUS! For the 1 1/4c of mascarpone I used an 8oz container of local mascarpone and then used 4oz cream cheese, 1/8 cup sour cream and 1 Tbs fat-free 1/2 & 1/2 . I know it was more than the 1/4 c. that was called for but at this point who cares? I also used the whole pint (2c) of whipping cream instead of the called for 1 3/4c. Because I have some "non-alcohol" peeps, I used a scant 2 Tbs. of kahlua and then filled the rest of the 1/3 c with strong instant coffee. It was EXCELLENT! I made this in my trifle bowl and refrigerated it overnight. It presented well and the lady fingers absorbed the coffee/liquor and were soft and delicious! Definitely a keeper! TRY THIS!

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
I too microwaved the apples for 3 mins. turning every minute. Then I did 2 layers of the filling...cream cheese, apples repeat. Smelled yummy and was very good. Really best served warm out of the oven. Bet it would be great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Mom's Cucumbers

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
These were simple and delicious. Someone gave us a bunch of long thin cukes out of their garden and I needed to find a way to use them. This recipe did the trick. Very similar to a bread and butter pickle taste.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: May 9, 2012
EXCELLENT! I doubled all og the ingredients because I had the whole fam. Everything was delish...I cut the hot sauce down a smidge and used "Frank's Red Hot Wings Buffalo Sauce." I subbed catsup for the tomatoe paste as suggested and waited til the last 1/2 hr or so to add the lemon to the marinade. It turned out great. Didn't take the full 5 mins/side to cook. We also used some of the extra marinade to drizzle onto Romaine lettuce and grilled that too to serve the shrimp on. Another good reviewer's suggestion. The whole meal was a hit. Easy to prepare ahead of time and quick cooking so you can actually enjoy the meal! Thank you Robbie Rice!!!

Roquefort Pear Salad

This salad is restaurant quality...the pears and avocado are a wonderful change from cukes and green peppers! The pecans are easy to fix and the dressing is yummy. Even delicious the next day!

Aunt Norma's Rhubarb Muffins

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
These are excellent muffins. Unfortunately I must have blinked or just blanked out where it said it makes 24 muffins. I only prepared one pan and then was surprised that I had so much left over batter! Well I used a mini muffin pan for the rest and even though they overflowed a bit, they were delicious! Love rhubarb recipes!!!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
Yummy! Very chocolatey and moist. I frosted this with a mocha icing to compliment the coffee that is in the cake. Served this after a huge assortment of finger foods on Christmas Eve, so don't think that anyone had any real room left for dessert. I do have leftovers though so I will pull it out again and ask the experts what they think of the recipe! Thanks Marsha!

No Fail Pie Crust III

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I cut this recipe in half...didn't need 4 crusts! This turned out really good...I like that it didn't have shortening in it...we have a cholesterol issue over here! Also, I used SmartBalance in place of the butter...I usually do that and have very good results!

Bulgur Chickpea Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2005
This is excellent and easy! It does taste like tabboulleh (Lebanese tomato and parsley salad). It is much quicker to make...not as much chopping involved. I use the bagged shredded carrots. How simple can it get? Tastes even better on day 2!

Buster Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2013
Everyone gave it rave reviews! I used Bryer's ice cream because it had the least ingredients and when you are eating something this decadent you have to watch all of those ingreds! ;) Should have made homemade whipped cream if I was truly concerned. All that aside... it was delish!

Easy Homemade Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
I found this recipe very hard to roll. It came out thicker than ones I have used and liked in the past.(Mostly due to my inability to roll it!) I like that it has butter and no shortening in it but I probably won't use this again! Sorry. :(
