Beef and Onion Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
Very tasty! After browning the meat in batches & removing while I added onions & garlic, sauteed for a bit and then added 1/2 c broth to deglaze the pan, scraping all those luscious bits; then tomatoe paste and remaining herbs/spices. once mixed then added remaining 1c broth and meat. before tender I had to use more broth. Boy does this taste good!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
Whoever rated this the "best" wasn't fibbin'! Didn't have enough semi-sweet choco clips, so used 1 cup of it and 1 c of vanilla chips -- and reduced walnust to 3/4 cup. Everything else the same. Since I baked these days ahead...I put them in the freezer. They turned out fantastic!! I'll have to be sure to keep some in the freezer all the time now -- the grandkids loved them!

Roasted Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
This is a wonderfully different potato salad! My family loved it -- even the kids! This recipe is bound to be used again and again! I'm not good at creating my own concoctions -- so it's especially helpful to find your "everyday" great cooks out there!

Slow Cooker Spicy Black-Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Whoa...this turned out really good with only minor changes. Chicken stock for water and bouillon, only had green pepper on hand, omitted jalapeno. Use less cayenne if you like less spicy. This gets better with each passing day! A definite winner!

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Makes an elegant looking meal...as is! Quick and easy and very tasty.! Everybody loved it! The servings shown is "6" -- but if you use 2 crescent pkgs -- it makes much more. Highly recommended.

Milk Chocolate Popcorn

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
In truth this recipe can be a little messy - but the end result is quite good. I used 2 microwave bags of popcorn & semi-sweet morsels (what I had on hand). The suggestion to use a foil roaster was brilliant! I baked mine for 35 mins, stirring every 10, then poured it onto a waxpaper lined cookie sheet to cool. Then I broke it up into smaller chunks. Very tasty! Sure to make again!

Slow Cooker Sausage with Sauce

This sandwich is one of my family's favorite dishes for when we all get together. So easy to make and topped with a little shredded mozzarella or fresh grated parmesan cheese, it's awesome!!

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
Dreamy, creamy soup! Just happened to pick just enough fresh garden broccoli to make this recipe. Followed the directions, as is, using ingredients as noted...maybe adding more pepper to my taste and oh yeah -- 1/2 cup half 'n half, rest skim milk -- but turned out super! A-1 rating!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2010
I've prepared a very similar recipe for years...you can't beat the convenience of ingredients, the quick put together and the absolutely scrumptious taste! I've used condensied mushroom soup[, regular and golden for a change of pace. This is always a favorite when my grandkids visit...everybody loves it!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
FANTASTIC! I found this recipe on this website a few years ago -- and believe me I have made it many times -- especially when I'm trying to impress family. I've made the recipe "as is" -- and it's always a winner. The prep the night before goes quickly -- and when it gets into that oven and starts roasting....the aroma is heavenly! I've used chickens a little smaller, slathering the seasonings on and they just fell apart and ohh...soooo tasty! Make it once -- and you're hooked!

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
Using a Boyle's Corned Beef and 2 btls Bully Porter and rest of ingredients as noted, 8 hrs low -- the result was excellent! A non-beer drinker -- I'll make this again - but with a lighter beer -- the Porter taste was just too strong for us. I would certainly recommend this recipe and this method for cooking a corned beef.

Tomato Chops I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
This was very similar to a recipe favored when I was a kid...basically only difference was using minced garlic and slicing onions (thin rings). The sauce was preferred a bit thinner and served with mashed potatoes. Talk about finger-lickin' good -- bones were picked clean as a whistle!!

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2013
This was really great! Picked my own asparagus and followed the recipe. Made quite a bit of soup for a single person, but it was just as good the next day. Recipe came together very easily -- I'll be making this one again!

Hot German Potato Salad III

This turned out very well despite the fact that I messed up on following the directions. I didn't change the ingredients though -- it was great and everyone loved it. Was a nice complement to my roast pork. I will make this again!

Broccoli Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
Made this with my Easter ham...great tasting! Was a big hit with the family and a plentiful side dish. Prepared rice ahead of time and set aside. Let large bag of broccoli thaw on cabinet top. Later everything went together in a snap! Will definitely make again!

Cream of Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
Quick and very tasty soup. The cut up asparagus made it quite "chunky" for the amount of soup base for me -- next time, I may cook the asparagus longer and puree, or just mash, some of it and add it back to pot. I liked the soup very much -- it's fresh and speedy! Another thing...no way would I get 8 servings from the recipe.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
Can't taste bad with all the butter -- but it was a very heavy, dense cake. Maybe it was intended to be...certainly weighed a pound or better! If I make it again -- I'll use less sugar for certain.
