Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
This is my second time I made the recipe. Always split them into 2 parts, one with raisin and one with choc chips. Put them side by side in one pan because they are not runny. Cut down the sugar to 1/3 only and use whole wheat fluor. Hmmm, can't wait to cut them...

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
This was the third times I made the bread before I wrote this review. Because I want to make sure that this bread will accommodate my expectation. At least I expect my bread would be like the picture (not dense nor heavy, but light, chewy, fluffy). But it never came true. The last time I made it (in Pullman tin- perfectly square)it was slightly rubbery. It happens when I made bread with veg oil. Have to find another recipe that will fulfill my expectation...

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
I keep using this recipe everytime I make pizza. It's great. Just like Pizza hut crust when it's just came out of the oven. But I never use 1,5c water. 1 cup is enough. But next time I will try 1,5c to see if it made the crust lighter and softer.

Boiled Chocolate Delight Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
Maybe I'm the only person who made it wrongly. Bcos I did not get a moist, soft cake. It got a bit hard and when I put it in the fridge, it's getting harder in the next day. I'm familiar with steamed cake bcos in my country we have steamed brownies, which absolutely my favourite. Maybe I have to try again later and hopefully I can change to 5 stars.

Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
Regretfully, I have to give 3 stars. Actually I had a big expectation on this recipe. And with all good review, I expected a light, moist rolls. But I have to agree with Gosselin that there was a biscuit taste in it. Maybe I have to omit the baking soda. I tried so hard to keep the fluor in 4,5c with so much liquid in it (I reduced the liquid a bit). A bit sticky, but I finally can manage not to add more fluor. That's why I expected a light roll. But what I got was quite far. Sorry..

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
Am I the only person who felt sour after tasted? I just use 1T because I ran out of vinegar. Yes, it was a tall, fluffy, soft pancakes. I tried to eliminate the sour taste by adding rice chocolate. But the taste was more wierd. I felt so sad to give the recipe 3 stars. Sorry, I prefer buttermilk pancake II from this site.

Very good. But I left out the baking soda. I made buns with this and turn out very nice. Yum!

Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
100% chewy!! Just like the title. I love the chewiness. I hated when it just came out from the oven, it looked greasy. But after it completely cooled, the grease's gone. Especially when you put it in the fridge. I put 1c cocoa, Dutch processed, and less 2-3T sugar from the recipe called for. Still sweet, but not overly sweet. I was hoping slightly bitter, but it wasn't. Anyway, good recipe!!

Amish Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
I thought the bread is too dense for me. Maybe because of oil made it heavy. Or maybe too much oil. It was chewy and sliced great. Since I don't have machine so I made it manually. But I may not make it again. Sorry.

Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
Just finished baking the cake. I think it's really fudgy. So dense and smooth texture. Unbelievably smooth. Not fluffy or airy at all. Taste ok, when it's just baked. Don't know for tomorrow or after refrigerated. I hope it gets tastier. I did all with low speed mixer from beginning to the end. Good recipe though, just need a little taste fixing.

Vanilla Ice Cream X

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Best I ever made. I didn't have ice cream maker. And I've tried to make 'manually'. Didn't work out. Still icy. But this one, works like magic. Easy and delish. I use dry powder whipping cream. And it makes 2 litre. 1l I made with 1c oreo. It was sooo great. Really like store-bought. I will try another flavour. Thank u so much!

Grandma's Fresh Apple Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
I don't know what's wrong with mine but my cake looked ugly. It looked like apple crisp rather than a cake. Far away from the photo. The top was dry out, crispy. I checked the recipe twice and found nothing wrong. I use recipe from this site so many times but never happened like this. Taste good, no doubt. And freeze well. Maybe bcos my apples not chopped enough.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I modified the recipe since I'm a chocolate addict (sorry!). I use 1c sugar, 1/2c unsweetened cocoa, no spices and no choc chips. The result.. Whoaaa..I'm in heaven..very chocolate-y. Just use pumpkin for moistness. I don't know what went wrong but the muffin was a bit fudgy at the top but a bit dry at the bottom. Overall, yummy!!

Breakfast Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
I halved the recipe and increase the sugar and salt. It's great. But I expect it will be dense like photo. Is it bcos I let my 2nd rise more than 30 minutes? I tried Traditional White Bread from this site, I think the texture and taste were alike. I thought it would be different since it contains egg and milk. But it didn't. But after all, still a great recipe. And nutritious.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Maybe I did something wrong or maybe I expect too much from a simple white cake? Mine was simply sweet. That's it. I expected it will be fluffy, white, sweet, tasty and aromatic. I end up making cake ball with chocolate cover to make it tastier. Not my kind of recipe. Sorry.

Pumpkin Chocolate Dessert Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Delicious! I didn't make the frosting which made me think maybe I should bcos the taste slightly bland. Maybe better add 1/4c sugar? I'm sure no additional needed with frosting. I did't have the applesauce, I should've substitute with oil to keep the same moistness. And use milk instead of heavy cream. It's very nice when it's just came out of the fridge. Denser, which I like so much. Next time I would add more cocoa. Hmm..yum!

Traditional White Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
My first successful white bread. I've made several white bread from this site but none of them rose (my fault of course-not the recipe). They rose allright but not as high as I expected. But this one rose high above the pan and still high up a bit in the oven. The taste was great. Just as I expected. A bit salty, so it's nice to be eaten plain. Nice proportion between sugar and salt. Finally I can have store bought like bread in my own oven. Thanks alot!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
Great doughnuts! Even when I tried to bake it as rolls, it's still great. Had a soft crust. But I must make a mistake in making the glazing. It caramelized. Don't know what's wrong. But it turned to hard candy before I put the hot water. Better try again next time, but great recipe!!

Vegan Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
For me, 5 stars for the texture of the cake, but 3 stars for the taste. The texture was great, moist, unbelieveable for vegan cake. Exactly the same with One Bowl Chocolate Cake III (from this website-non vegan). But it was tasteless. Agreed with other reviewer to increase the cocoa to 1/3-1/2 cup. Not chocolate-y enough for me. And better add more sugar next time. If you frosted it, I think the taste will not so bland. Will do adjustment for next baking.

Chi Chi Dango Mochi

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Great recipe! I love mochi, but in Bali, they always sell mochi with peanut filling. It's round with peanut and sugar inside (maybe someone think this is a good idea?). But I prefer plain. I think it's a lot better. I halved the recipe to give it a try and came out great. I found that it's more difficult to take the mochi out of the pan, rather than cutting it. And I cut the coconut milk bcos I don't want it too coconut-y. I don't have potato starch, so I use corn starch instead. I 'fried' it a few minutes, w/o oil of course, just to have it cooked a little bit. So I didn't eat raw starch. Anyway, will make this again and again. I'm so happy I can make my own mochi. Thanks alot!
