Hello my Bee Friends:) I would like you all to put your keyboards together for a big AR Meet N Greet to Paco! The newest addition to my dog family!! He came to us from my BIL. Mike had him and his GF's kids didn't take very good care of him. He asked if we could take him, we said YES! It took us a day or so to name him. I need your help, I have never had a Boy dog, he IS intact. I believe Paco is about 3- 4 months old. I, of Course, am going to take him to the vet and get snipped but how old does he have to be before that gets done? Paco has become IN Love with my big dog,Dolly. He is trying to "Get" with her. Dolly is 10 yo and having None of it! LOL. He keeps trying and barking at her. She growls at him and the whole things goes again! He is enchanted with Dolly's big, fluffy tail. hahahaha. Paco is settling in to life with us. Peanut is Still trying to figure this Barking Being out! She is younger and has the energy to Put up with him, to a point. Paco is teething and is just Adorable! He's a bit scrawny but I will fix that in No time! The pup is not fond of my MIL, he also tried to Get friendly with DS's arm this morning! The kids are used to having a girl dog and now there are extra parts down there! They will just have to accept it. Paco is here to stay! Glad you came to say Hi to our newest Pal. Thank You so much for all Your help! I will keep in touch with Paco's progress:) Love to All, Pattycakes

He's adorable!!! New babies are so exciting!
Nov. 4, 2010 8:59 am
So cute!! Congrats!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:00 am
Welcome Paco, you're in for a treat living with Patty Cakes! Be a good boy because it appears you've already found a place in her heart!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:01 am
Congratulations! I think you can get them snipped pretty young. I would just phone the vet and ask. I got our dog done when she was just 4 months old and actually in her first heat, but we were having to kennel her for a couple of months during a move overseas. No problems at all.
Nov. 4, 2010 9:02 am
TOO stinkin' cute ;) Congrats!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:04 am
once you clip him, he will quit being so friendly LOL. Cutie pie
Nov. 4, 2010 9:05 am
Sooo cute. He'll stop trying to "get with" everyone once he learns his place in the pack :) Unless of course any of you end up not being above him in the pecking order.
Nov. 4, 2010 9:07 am
Mominator Oh Thank You so much! They are exciting!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:07 am
Now THERE'S a very happy dog sayin': "Oh yeah, I am finally HOME and lovin' it here! It's about time you took me in Mom, I needed you!" - Paco, you are so cute. - Thanks for sharing Patty! And, LOVE your Saltillo tile floors! =]
Nov. 4, 2010 9:07 am

Nov. 4, 2010 9:13 am
linda2d ROTFLMAO!! That will ssooo Not happen!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:16 am
Most vets around here like to wait until 6 months, but I know a couple that will do it at 3 months. Congratulations on the new family member, that's so exciting. We're getting a new foster this weekend that we're looking forward to acclimating to home life and getting her ready for her new forever home. :) They're so fun.
Nov. 4, 2010 9:17 am
Sue’sCookingToday Bless You! I would like to think so too! Now the floors are ssooo terrific! Virtually non destructive! They dry in a flash and keep clean with a damp mop of bleachy water. I love them!!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:19 am
Thank You baking Nana. I need more chew toys! LOL
Nov. 4, 2010 9:22 am
Crikkitt, that is interesting, I will check on that today! I hope I don't have to wait that long. LOL
Nov. 4, 2010 9:24 am
Sorry Crikkett, Glad your getting a new dog to get ready for a new family! Congrats. Not sure I have the heart to give them to a new family. LOL
Nov. 4, 2010 9:25 am
Aw, he's a cutie! He's probably pretty close to the age for getting "snipped"! The vet will tell you for sure :) Thanks for sharing, Patty Cakes!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:25 am
What a cutie! Check with your vet, I swear each has an opinion on when to snip. He has that Dennis the Menace look about him, he'll keep the others hopping. Good job taking him in.
Nov. 4, 2010 9:33 am
Christine M it was my Pleasure! Thanks for coming in to see him!
Nov. 4, 2010 9:36 am
you are exactly right BigShotsMom! The Girls are not Thrilled! LOL
Nov. 4, 2010 9:43 am
Hi Patty Cakes...Congrats on the new puppy. He is a cutie! My son and I just adopted a chow chow puppy 6 weeks ago, we named him Apollo and at that time he was only 5 weeks old and we had to wait till this week to get him snipped. In fact he was just snipped on Tuesday. And doing just fine no stiches, just some glue. I had to laugh when the vet said that! We found him at the Downey Animal Shelter and he was snipped, and micro chipped and got all his shots as part of the package. This is our first dog so we are having a blast potty training and all. Good luck with Paco, he truly is a lucky dog to have found a place in your heart and home. :)
Nov. 4, 2010 9:43 am
Awww, Congrats on the new pup Patty! My uncle has one and he named him Nacho, lol.
Nov. 4, 2010 9:49 am
@PC - he's old enough to be snipped now. Just know that he may continue this mounting behavior after all is said and done.. he is expressing (or trying to) his dominance, it's not necessarily sexual. You need to correct him whenever you see him doing that - you are the alpha dog, not him. This behavior can lead to dog fighting and injuries. Good luck.
Nov. 4, 2010 9:49 am
Welcome Paco, you have a great family to live and love with!! Make sure you take care of Patty!; ) Congrats and good luck you cutie patootie!!!
Nov. 4, 2010 10:04 am
YYYAAAA Noemi!!! LOVE IT! Glue? Too funny! Thanks for sharing your story, good for your DS:) Glad your are going through the same thing! LOL
Nov. 4, 2010 10:40 am
Congrats on your new family member!
Nov. 4, 2010 11:00 am
Paco the taco dog....how cute he is. Most pups get snipped at about 5-6 months old.
Nov. 4, 2010 12:56 pm
Paco is very cute!! We ended up w/my FIL's chihuaha mix - he may be part Jack Russell. His original name was Consuelo, FIL changed it to Concho, I changed it to Elmo, which then became El Wacko - which I couldn't deal with - so we finally settled on Iggy (after Jim Ignitowski on Taxi). Unfortunately he is completely stressing out my Rottie, and I can't have it that he is detrimental to my other dogs (also have a 13 YO sheltie). My friend is helping me find him a good home! Poor Iggy!
Nov. 4, 2010 2:13 pm
Hi Christina,What a coincidence! Wow, We were really stuck on names. Heck,it almost came down to Tamale! LOL
Nov. 4, 2010 2:16 pm
Hey there BellesAZ, I will be aware of this and take action when needed. Thanks for the heads up!
Nov. 4, 2010 2:19 pm
Dragonfly22, from your fingers to Paco's Brain! LOL Thanks Sugar!
Nov. 4, 2010 2:23 pm
Hi Marianne, Thank You so much!
Nov. 4, 2010 2:24 pm
Thanks Sharon, he has an appointment tonight at 6pm! We shall see:)
Nov. 4, 2010 2:29 pm
Poor Iggy! Mary, no wonder he is a basket case, he has no name! I wish I could take him, then again, if I did, that would make me a Hoarder. I don't need that! Good luck finding him a nice home:)
Nov. 4, 2010 4:03 pm
Patty - sometimes it's difficult to let the fosters go to their new home, but it's so rewarding. If I keep them, I can't help another one get ready for their forever home. I had to put one of my babies down in April and so far, haven't been ready to open my heart to a new one. I'm sure it will happen soon and the lady that runs the rescue agency thinks my next foster will steal my heart. I'll write a blog if she does. :) Congrats again on your handsome little dude. I think you are all lucky to have found each other.
Nov. 4, 2010 4:21 pm
Oh Lots of Love to you Crikkitt!! Thank You for Loving the Hounds. They find a way into our hearts sit on it! And there they stay till it is their time to leave.
Nov. 5, 2010 5:19 am
I work at a veterinary hospital and we like to wait until 6 months. Congratulations, you are going to enjoy him!
Nov. 5, 2010 6:16 am
I'm so happy for you! You'll get him fattened up in no time! We aren't ready for a new pup yet but sometimes fate steps in as it seems to have done with you. Enjoy the little guy! Hugs! :o) :o) :o)
Nov. 5, 2010 7:51 am
Paco couldn't have found better humans:)
Nov. 5, 2010 8:16 am
Howdy Momof2! That is good to know. I took Paco to the vet last night and they will Snip him (sorry Gentlemen, heee) after he gets his 2nd set of shots in 3 weeks.Thank You for all You do for the Critters!
Nov. 5, 2010 8:20 am
Bless You Mauigirl! Not so sure Dolly agrees with you:( He is IN LOVE and she is ssooo not a happy camper! LOL She will just have to bark louder! hahaha. Thanks Lovie!!
Nov. 5, 2010 8:24 am
AAAWWW Cheepchick Thanks Sugar! Your right, he basically landed in our laps and I am glad we were there to catch him! He already likes table scraps. Yes, I know, not too many, but in IMO, they ate what the cave man ate and if they lived, it will be good enough for him. Not trying to be a smart arse, just saying:)
Nov. 5, 2010 10:11 am
Congratulations Paco for choosing Patty Cakes as your new Mom! You have made a good choice, now see to it that you are a good boy for her! What a little cutie, no wonder he stole your heart!
Nov. 5, 2010 8:44 pm
What a cutie pie!
Nov. 5, 2010 9:08 pm
Oh Thank You GrannyGigi:) That is so nice of you! I am honored you think I am worthy of such a cutie pie!
Nov. 5, 2010 9:18 pm
I truely appreciate it Candice! Thank You:)
Nov. 5, 2010 10:36 pm
Paco has a great face. He is lucky to have you.
Nov. 6, 2010 1:38 am
Patty, he is adorable! And Paco, congratulations kiddo! You hit the jackpot!
Nov. 6, 2010 4:12 am
I have one of those little creatures. Her name is "Morgan". (My DD did it, after Capt. Morgan!) She is very bright, and a loving caretaker of me. Anyone walking down my street without her permission, the event is announced by ear-splitting yips, hearty growls and hair standing up from her neck to her tail. But I am aware that someone is within 1/4 mile of my house. I also have a 145 lb. German Shepherd (neutered) and Morgan, all 3.5 lbs. of her, who has been spayed, thinks he is her boyfriend! Dakota tolerates her and even shares his bed with her. I sit down and she's laying on my chest, immediately, as if to say, if no one else on the planet tells you, it's my turn to say "I love you"! Paco, you're one lucky little dude!!
Nov. 6, 2010 12:16 pm
he's so cute!!! i love the name "paco"
Nov. 6, 2010 2:34 pm
Seeme cook, how lovely of you to say! Thank You very much!:) He got his 1st shots this morning.
Nov. 6, 2010 2:35 pm
Mimosa, he has stolen the ♥ of the vets office too! Thank You Sweety:)
Nov. 6, 2010 2:43 pm
SouthernGma Your house must be the talk of the neighborhood! Love it! According to the vet, she said he was just under 1 year old. I figured he was closer to 4 or 5 months. Shows you what I know! BBBAAAHHHAAA :) Thank you Sweety!
Nov. 6, 2010 2:45 pm
Cookiemonster, So nice of you to come say Hi to us!! Thanks Sugar!
Mel K
Nov. 6, 2010 2:54 pm
Patty Cakes,Paco is absolutely adorable.I know he has stolen everyone's heart, it made me want to hold him just looking at the photos. Love the other dogs also, looks like you have special friends to keep you company. Our loving and loyal dog passed away in April(16 yrs)and I am so lonely without her.Husband not willing to get another dog at this time, said it hurt too much to lose them. Enjoy your beautiful new member and keep us up to date on her progress. God bless!
Nov. 6, 2010 6:57 pm
Oh, he's precious!
Nov. 6, 2010 7:33 pm
I assume since you have other dogs that you know the trick of yipping like a puppy when he tries to do his teething on a person? I remember the first puppy I trained. The teething part was really bad until I learned that...then she transferrred to wooden chair legs! She is now a staid and steady 7 year old...a service dog for mobility handicapped.
Nov. 6, 2010 9:11 pm
Hi there Mel K, That is very sweet of you! Bless you and your hubby! Give him time, take him to the pound once in a while>> just to See the dogs, maybe he will be ready sooner then you think! Fingers crossed. I know it hurts to love and loose but I would rather hurt from loosing love then be sad from never loved in the first place! Peace to both of you:) thank You so much!
Nov. 6, 2010 9:14 pm
*eclectRicity, I could not agree MORE! Thanks a Million!
Nov. 6, 2010 9:19 pm
Uh No, LuluBelle Never heard of that trick. Care to share? I did buy him a rubber chew toy tonight with little nubs on it, hope that helps. Thank You for the advice.
Nov. 6, 2010 9:24 pm
I also have to say that Paco isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He keeps messing with Dolly, she growls/barks at him and he Still wants to mount her! He has BIG dreams! LOL. 3 more weeks till I can Fix him.
Nov. 7, 2010 2:20 pm
He is too cute!! what "is" he? You are so good to take him into your home; watch him for possible fear issues from being neglected. Our big boy Sarge is five now (rescue from GSDRAW at seven months) and he still has lingering fear issues. Paco is not to young to fix, but he may be too little! Your family will get used to his "extra equipment" quickly! Just remember, it's a little trickier to give a tummy rub though, lol!
Nov. 7, 2010 2:38 pm
Thank You Sb, your screen name is my pet name for hubby!,minus the 4. LOL. When we were dating he would not let me call him "Honey",until we were married so I came up with Sugar Bear and that was 20 years ago come this Thursday! So far so good, on the Issues which are none as I can tell. Paco has no probs with the kids, hubby,me. hew is always playing, growling, etc with the other dogs. He sleeps at night and doesn't have any trouble at night. Seems to be a good pup! We love him:)
Nov. 7, 2010 4:37 pm
He's so sweet Patty! I wanted a little dog the last one we adopted. No such luck....she now weighs 75 pounds.
Nov. 7, 2010 4:39 pm
He is such a sweet baby! And congrats on 20 yrs! That is awesome!!!!
Nov. 7, 2010 6:08 pm
Holey Cow Sassyoldlady! That is a Big LOL difference:) Next time try a Chihuahua! hahahaha Thanks Sugar:)
Nov. 7, 2010 6:09 pm
Oh Sugar Bear, Paco is a Chihuahua.
Nov. 7, 2010 6:15 pm
Oh Sweet Shanon, I wish Quadruple for you and the new Mr.K!! Thank You so much! Puppies are tiring! LOL I just wish I could tell him that Dolly could snap his head off if she wanted to! She is softly growling at him as he chases around her. They are too funny together! Now he is barking in her ear!
Nov. 8, 2010 12:01 pm
Congrats Patty on such a cutie pie and congrats Paco on landing such a loving home!
Nov. 8, 2010 1:27 pm
What a sweetheart Paco is! Congrats on finding him- such an exciting time! BF wanted to name my chihuahua "Cerveza" but I chose Simon instead lol. Simon is not fixed and he got over wanting to hump my Husky pretty quickly. She put him in his place right quick! Norman, my other boy dog, refused to stop peeing on things, so we got him sniped last Monday. The vet used the glue on him too. He was a little loopy when he got home, but no problems now. Good luck to you and have fun with that little cutie :)

Nov. 9, 2010 10:24 am
Hello Patticakes! Paco is adorable! Is your recipe for your GREEN CHICKEN ENCHILADAS on this site? If not, would you share it? I've been trying to get a good recipe for enchiladas for some time now and every recipe I try just tastes "wrong". Thank you!
Nov. 9, 2010 11:35 am
How funny. He is like a teen-age boy, raging hormones 'n all. He will blend in. I love the pic of him going after Dolly's tail. I am a little jealous- but I do not need another animal to take care of. When I get yearnings, I remember demands of frequent walks, etc. My two cats amuse me :)
Nov. 9, 2010 11:38 am
I would love tile floors but you can't install them in house with floors that are not completely flat (it's an old house). They are very pretty!
Nov. 9, 2010 5:01 pm
The vet usually waits until after all of their shots are done. Funny thing is...I have a Cat named Paco!!! That name makes for a lot of raised eyebrows too ;) My dog's name is Chico!Congratulations on your new addition.
Nov. 10, 2010 7:09 am
Thank You Lovecakes! He is settling in nicely:)
Nov. 10, 2010 7:12 am
Good Morning Puck, it is very funny to watch a big dog put a lil pest in his place! LOL. Paco is a little most persistent! He is still trying to Win her over:) I like the name Simon too! Thanks Love!
Nov. 10, 2010 7:13 am
MRD13, they are Exhausting!! But Funny little creatures!
Nov. 10, 2010 7:20 am
Of Course Anne C!!Yes, here is mine and my family loves it!! I hope you do too Sugar!http://allrecipes.com/PersonalRecipe/62164285/Green-Chicken-Enchiladas/Detail.aspx
I add the roasted jalapeno to the canned green sauce to give it a bit more Umph! If you want to make it even better, add a fried egg to the top! OOOHHHH This recipe is So RIGHT!! Paco thanks you too! Woof!
Nov. 10, 2010 7:26 am
Good morning to you Maureen:) Thank You so very Much! I want you to be happy with whatever you choose to fill your life with! Cats are great too! I just love the welcome I get when I come home from dogs, they could care less if I have been gone all day or 5 minutes. Yeah, I would think old floors would be a bit tricky. The kitchen was a whole gut back in 2005. It used to be a a W shape. We took down the walls and made a square shape and extended the counter space by 4 fold! Love it! Thank You So much Sweety!
Nov. 10, 2010 7:37 am
Oh for sure chiquitamelanie, he gets his next set of shots in 3 weeks and will get snipped then too. I will be able to get his license at that time too. Now why would that name for your cat's name raise eye brows? Silly people! LOL. Cute name, no matter what they think! Thank You Love:):)
Nov. 10, 2010 3:57 pm
What a little sweetie! I had a female chihuahua many years ago named Kichi (Hungarian for tiny) and just adored her; she was so much fun and full of love. Looks like Paco has already figured out what a good home he's found, lucky little guy!
Nov. 10, 2010 6:55 pm
Oh JBott, how wonderful it is to see you again! Thank You so much for telling me about your precious Kichi, cute name for a sweet Baby:) Love to you! I hope he feels luck too!
Nov. 10, 2010 9:25 pm
He's cute Patty!
Nov. 11, 2010 1:55 am
What an adorable addition to your lovely fur kids! I'm sure he is quite happy and feels he hit the jackpot with his humans. :) I have 3 fur kids of my own - all cats. They all are rescue kitties and one was a stowaway in my van! Enjoy your newest addition. They bring such unconditional love and happiness. Take care.
Nov. 11, 2010 2:46 pm

PC, I'm so happy to hear you've added another to the 'Animal-family'!=) The doggie is adorable! I got my dog fixed when it was maybe 6 months old! I think its fine to get it done before they're 1 but just not TOO early! PACO is old enough to get fixed! He is one adorable dog and i could spend the day just giving him hugs!!!!..... XOXOOXO to PACO and you &hearts3 *cozy
Nov. 11, 2010 9:11 pm

Nov. 14, 2010 9:42 pm
Hi Nooney, I would Love to fix him now but the vet says not till he gets his next set of shots after Thanksgiving. You will just have to find a hubby that adores animals as much as you do! Thanks Love:) Knock em dead on your tests!! Best of luck to you:):) ♥Patty

Oh Smitty, You are very nice to say such sweet things. Thank You Dolly is like leave me Alone! I have only ever seen her bare her teeth on other time before, at a Dalmatian that was at the RV park. Dolly nearly bit the other dogs head off! Never any problems since. I of course will keep you all posted on the Paco adventures:)

Mar. 4, 2011 9:47 pm
Mar. 4, 2011 6:24 pm WTG and great score BB!! I would think a stew, strognoff (sp), beef bourgeoisie(sp) would be perfect with your meat on the wild side.Good luck and have fun! Hi Patty, you wrote this to me and I was just wondering what you meant by the "WTG and great score BB" part? Maybe it all makes sense but I am just not clueing in! Thanks for the other info though and not to worry about the (sp) we all do it.
Mar. 5, 2011 12:14 pm
BudBeer, I am really sorry about all the abreveations,I am kinda lazy and short type things out. WTG is Way To Go and BB is BeerBud. Hope your wild meal turned out terrific:) See? a complete sentence with no short cuts! LOL >> laugh out loud. Sorry for the confusion.
Mar. 6, 2011 3:52 pm
Ahhhh, I knew it would all make sense. I did know what the WTG ment though but as for "great score BB" wasn't too sure. Thanks Patty
Mar. 8, 2011 9:03 pm

About Me
I'm Quickly sliding toward my 50's. I have a loving husband that I have been with for 22 years and counting! We have 3 wonderful children and are semi empty nesters. I am Enjoying this time of my life! We have 2 dogs. I am a lunch lady at a high school 3 blocks from my driveway.
My favorite things to cook
I Love to BBQ and Grill and the family seems to love it as much as I do! :] I pretty much cook everything. I love to try new things... Like out of cookbooks and such, although some do fail miserably! i keep trying anyway.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving Dinner. Which always includes oyster stuffing (delicious) I ONLY make it at Thanksgiving. My family recommends it. I make mashed potatoes that my mother-in-law taught me, and she's been making them that way for YEARS! They are delectable! :D
My cooking triumphs
I could say that my green chicken enchiladas never fail. They are pretty triumphant. hahaha
My cooking tragedies
There have been some downers, and heartaches. I really can't name them all but one was one that I found in a cooking mag. that my family HATED. I will never do it again... but I can't seem to remember what it was... and I don't think I want to!!! I make a mean grilled pizza and am working on my bread making skills thanks to this site! I am forever addicted to the people and recipes on here! OXOXO ):
