Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
Hands down ~ one of the best cornbread recipes!! I didn't change anything within the recipe...however, my bread was done within 25 minutes. So, I would recommend to watch the bread from 20 minutes on....depending on your oven. Mine typically runs true to the time suggested on the recipe. Certainly will be the only recipe I will use for cornbread!!

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
This recipe is absolutely wonderful. I did change it a little. Roasted the butternut first - cut in 1/2, scoop pulp, oil w/ olive oil, salt & pepper. 350 for approx 45 minutes. I used chicken broth vs. water & bouillon. I also took the recommendation of others and cut the amount of cream cheese down to 4 oz. Perfect!!!

Egg Drop Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
Excellent!! I took the suggestions of other cooks and added sesame oil, soy sauce & pepper. I also added an extra egg. It is key to slightly beat the egg before and add it when the broth is boiling. Simple & delicious!! Thanks

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
This is one of the best scratch brownie recipes that I've made yet! I followed the recommendations of others and used 2 c. white sugar and 1 c. brown sugar. I also needed to bake them about 45 minutes vs. the 35-40...they were still very moist & not overbaked!!!

Pretzel Turtles®

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
I love Turtle, but always found them a pain to make! This recipe is wonderful!!! Very easy and oh so yummy!! I made a few with an alteration to the recipe...I have a few friends that can't eat nuts but love caramel - so, I top these with another pretzel and decorated the top with chocolate.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
This certainly has to be the best banana cream pie recipes. I read several reviews were people said they had troubles with the filling setting up. I've had that issue in years past & now ensure that I cook it long enough, otherwise it won't set.

Pumpkin Crunch Parfaits

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Excellent!! This was such a nice option to those who may not want the traditional pumpkin pie. I used low fat cool whip, pudding & milk and had no problems with it setting or with taste. The ginger snap is the icing on this parfait dish!!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Excellent recipe! Modified the recipe a little~ I used brown sugar instead of white mixed with the sweet potato & cut the amount to 1/4 c. Thought it may be on the sweet side for others, so when I make this for guest I may cut the sugar out & only add it on the topping.

Creamy Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
Great twisted to an old favorite! I changed the recipe a little ~ used chipotle ranch dressing and left out the onion & relish. Was a big hit at my company potluck!

This is a great basic fried rice recipe. I love the taste of the soy sauce added to the water...could have just eaten that by itself.

Wine Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Great recipe! The jelly tastes exactly like the wine you use. I thought that the sugar would take away from the flavor of my favorite wine....was happily surprised when the jelly turned out to taste the same!!! This will be a wonderful gift to give to my wine lover friend - decorate the jar & add the recipe and a bottle of wine! I followed the recipe exactly as it was written and had no issue - I checked a jar a few hours after and it set up beautiful.

Caramel Apple Jam

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
Excellent fall Jam recipe. This is my second season making this jam. My family and co-workers look forward to their jar each year. It is on the sweet side and more like an apple pie than a carmel apple. I was told by a few friends they have put this in the center of an acorn squash in replace of butter and brown sugar. Sounds wonderful and another great use for the jam!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
Very good! I followed a few sugguestions from others and added extra cheese. Since I'm not a fan of bread crumbs..I changed it to crushed saltine crackers with melted butter on top sprinkled with cayenne pepper. I would certainly do this recipe again!!
