Apple Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2014
Great muffins. I got 18 regular muffins out of one batch. I made them according to the recipe which I wouldn't change at all. I liked that the muffin was more plain so the apple taste really shined. The topping gave it the perfect amount of spice/flavor. This is my go to apple recipe.

Scalloped Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2014
This is good. I made it just as the recipe says. I wasn't sure if the whole kernal corn was supposed to be drained or not, so I guessed and drained most of it. I did not find it too sweet like others who suggested less or no sugar. I did feel like it was missing salt and pepper though. With salt and pepper, it would be a 5 star recipe. Nice consistency, not too dry, not too wet. I will definitely make it again but add some salt and pepper.

Seafood Sandwich

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2014
Good basic recipe. Tasted like the seafood salad I buy at the supermarket. I did find it needed a bit more Old Bay than called for in the recipe. I will make this again. Would also be good on a salad instead of bread. Note: After making this several times, I found it makes a great party appetizer...just put on top of Ritz crackers and people love it.

Kelsey's Cheesy Bacon Breasts

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2014
Very good and easy. There was no need to cook the outside of the chicken in butter. I fried the bacon until almost done and just put the raw breast meat in a cake pan and brushed with the mustard and BBQ sauce and topped with the bacon. I baked it for about 20 minutes then put the cheese over the top and baked another 15 minutes. It was perfect.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
I have made this several times now just as written. I wouldn't change a thing. Each time I make them I get 12 regular size muffins out of a batch. This the only banana muffin recipe I will use because it is so good, I don't need any other.

Nana's Southern Coleslaw

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
Exdellent and yes, it does taste like KFC's slaw. Definitely will be my "go to" coleslaw recipe. I used a large bag of coleslaw mix for the cabbage, carrots and onion due to time restraints. Didn't change anything else.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
Like others I mashed the banana's rather than sliced them. It made a great tasting bread with the perfect denseness and moistness as one expects in a banana bread. I will be making this again...a keeper of a recipe. Thank you.

Dried Fruit Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
I have made this twice now and when people try it they are pleasantly surprised how good it is. I made it exactly as written and for the chopped, dried chopped fruit I used Sunmaid Fruit Bits. I served it with Teddy Grahams one time and graham crackers another time. Both tasted great but I prefered the Teddy Grahams as they held up better to the thickness of this cheese ball.

Black Bean and Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
Made this for a party at work and everyone loved it. It made a big batch so we had some leftover for the next day and it was even better! Definitely a keeper. I did cut back on the oil as suggested and used only about 1/4 cup olive oil and it was perfect.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
Absolutely wonderful. I followed some others suggestion and doubled the sauce, used lower sodium soy sauce and used half brown and half white sugar. I dumped all the sauce over the chicken at the start and baked 110 min. at 375. I covered with foil the first half, then removed it. I did turn them half way through and basted the tops about 5 minutes before they were done. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut in half because I wanted smaller pieces and I had also put a couple of chicken breast tenderloins in to see what tasted better. The thighs win hands down. My son ate his over rice and I made a stirfry of red and green bell peppers, celery and cabbage which I put the chicken over. It was great! Can't wait for the leftovers!

Slow Cooker Creamed Corn II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2012
I have made this several times and it is absolutely my favorite way to eat corn. It turns out perfect every time. I use heavy cream instead of milk because the first time I made it I was out of milk and then after that, I didn't want to do anything differently because it was so good! I use 3/4 tsp. sea salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper. It also heats up very well...that is, if there are leftovers!

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2012
This is the best caramel corn recipe I have ever tried. It is failproof if you follow the directions. I put it in a big turkey roaster instead of two pans. I also use two 6 oz bags of cheese popcorn instead of regular popped corn. The cheese popcorn gives it a good depth of flavor.

Fajita Marinade I

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
Absolutely the best fajita marinade I have found. It was resturant quality. I marinated chicken, steak and shrimp. I then grilled the meats using a grill and grill pan. For the veggies, I marinated grape tomatos, red/yellow/green bell peppers sliced and sweet onion. I grilled the veggies in a grill pan also. Absolutely wonderful.

Toll House® Blonde Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
This is a never fail recipe and makes a big batch for gatherings. I usually use half semi sweet chocolate chips and half butterscotch chips for a twist. Great tasting.

Seven Layer Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
These are great! I have made this recipe several times and get requests for these bars often. My friends say they even taste better than the local bakery's version. I do use salted butter instead of unsalted and that works fine. This is a definite go to recipe.

Creamy Lettuce Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
OMGosh, this was so refreshing and a nice change from heavy pasta salads. I did not use onions or eggs but added pieces of real bacon instead. I swear it tasted just like a BLT. If I had closed my eyes and didn't see there wasn't I sandwich there, I would have sworn it was a BLT. Because a family member has diabetes, I also substituted the sugar for Splenda which worked just fine. This is definitely going to be a go to salad for me. Thank you for the recipe.

Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
This is the best steak recipe I have ever made! I don't even care for steak that much and this just moved steak to the top of my "like" list. I used 24 oz of steak and cut the recipe in half and it was just the right amount. My husband suggested that next time, I make the whole amount and in half of it put sauteed mushrooms to serve on the steak also. I am going to do that. Thank you for the most wonderfully simple recipe.
