I live in Halifax, NS with my 12 1/2 yr old daughter. She is my world and loves to help cook! :)
My favorite things to cook
I like trying new recipes all of the time. Recently I have been into trying new varieties of slow cooker suppers as they make life easier when you have other things to do! I do love baking and have a professional cake decorating course- I have made various character cakes for family and friends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's background is a mix of Polish and Ukrainian. Many of the dishes are rich but tasty. Such things as: perogies, cabbage rolls, cheese crepes, wheat dish (at Christmas Eve- Polish). I like helping my family with these dishes when they do them as I have not been brave enough to attempt them alone!
My cooking triumphs
Making beautiful professionally decorated cakes for family and friends. Also- baking cookies, cakes and muffins from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
When making one of my character cakes, I accidently put in 7 tsp of baking soda instead of 7 ml....BIG difference, lol I had to do the homemade cake all over again!

Moist Carrot Cake
I have made this recipe a few times already and it has gone over very well. I dont think I made any modifications to it either. Will be making this again for a family member's bday in the fall!

Banana Crumb Muffins
I literally just finished baking these muffins for the first time and am eating one right now- fresh from the oven! They are marvelous! Very tasty and moist. I did follow some of the other suggestions above- substituting the butter for oil and adding the crumb mixture in the last 5 minutes of baking. Yummy!!! :)
