Overnight Caramel Pecan Rolls

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
We absolutely love this dough recipe. I did make one change because my daughter dislikes nuts but loves raisins. I substituted 1 cup dark raisins for 1/2 the recipe and then used 1 cup pecans for the other 1/2. Not one roll was left. I'm asked to bring this for every church or girlfriend brunch. It's worth making the dough from scratch.

Juicy Lucy Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2010
We used to call these Bill Burger's (after my father-in-law, Bill) but we took them a step further. We made the beef patty's as thin as possible then added a good cheddar cheese slice, sliced red onion as thin as possible and sliced button mushrooms. The key is to slice everything supper thin and stack everything even. Make your beef patty's thin as well then crimp tight. Let the burgers sit in the fridge for a bit before cooking. Grill low and slow with a good Hickory Sauce so they are cooked well done then let them sit for 15-20 minutes before serving. YUMMMY!

Meat-Lover's Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
The issue to not use sugar because this sauce is too sweet is really not valid. Sugar is used in tomato based sauces to mellow the acidic bite. I personally use brown sugar rather than white because I like the added flavor I get from it. 1 tablespoon of sugar in that much sauce will truly not make it sweet. It's like adding salt to sweet dishes. It brings out the other flavors. Give it a try :-)!

Cheater Pot Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I've made a similar recipe but instead of biscuits, I use refrigerator crescent rolls and to really be quick and easy try plain old veg-all. Use the chicken soup, milk and canned chicken as called for. I'm telling you, quick, easy AND good!

Sauerkraut and Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
I've made this recipe for years and always a favorite when serving hot snacks however, I've made a few changes. We like our kraut dishes a little more tangy and less sweet so I only used 4 apples that I shred instead of slice and about 1/3 cup brown sugar. I also use the larger jar of kraut and I like to rinse it and then add a tablespoon of olive oil and a 1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds. This gives a nice hidden flavor that goes well with the sweet and the tangy. Everything else is the same. I'll offer small hard rolls cut in half for those folks that want to make a sandwich out of this.

Dark Chocolate Apricot Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
I followed this recipe to the letter and thought it was a pretty cookie but it lacked flavor. I might try the next time to add some other flavorings just to spice it up.

Hogs and Kisses

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I thought because I adore chocolate AND bacon that I would love this savory/sweet treat but it was not the recipe I hoped it would be. A variation on savory/sweet bacon in to fry your bacon very slow and before it's done, drain the fat and then add (approx. 1/2 cup per lb bacon) honey and continue cooking until the bacon is well done. You want to cook this slow so the bacon doesn't crisp up but stays chewy. Great for breakfast or on top of salads.
