About this Cook
I am a mother of 4 children (older) and 2 Grandchildren. and I now have a wonderful new daughter-in law Janelle so my family is getting alot bigger. I love people and cooking for a large group is my best time.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook things that are unusual and with my boyfriend liking everything unusual I have a great time trying new exciting recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well I have a few favorites that have to be made every holiday, my son Thomas loves honey and brown sugar glazed ham and my son Justin loves his sweet potatoe casserole.
My cooking triumphs
Best triumphs was my cut glass torte, not an easy one to make but totally worth the trouble.
My cooking tragedies
Burning everything I was making as the stove wasn't working and serving the day before leftovers to company which was still a hit, everything is better the next day anyways........

Baked Pork Chops I
I tried to make these as directed but was unwell and wasn't really thinking clearly. Now with that being said, I over browned the pork, not burned but close. Sauté the mushrooms in the pan with some white wine (1 cup) and mixed that in with 2 cans of mushroom soup. Added more wine 1.5 cups, threw it all in the oven (totally didn't see that I was to cook the pork chops half the time without sauce. TURNED OUT WONDERFUL!!! My chops were 2" thick and huge (costco, love it ) so the cook time of 1 hour was perfect, not dry but moist with that lovely breading. Made baby potatoes with dill and broccoli with lemon. Again, wonderful. Thanks for a great recipe.

Hashbrown Casserole
I just made this, I 1.5 the recipe, only used mushroom soup, I didn't use shredded hashbrowns , I used the smaller diced ones, used dried onions instead of fresh (easier to hide from my picky eaters). Used aged and med cheddar and added 3/4 package of dry ranch dressing. I cooked it all in a 9 X 13 inch pan for 40 min and uncovered it and baked another 35 minutes. I had everyone comment how wonderful this dish was. I will make it again next christmas with my pineapple glazed ham and my triple sized sweet potato casserole. Excellent.

Sweet and Spicy Almonds
I doubled the recipe, added the hot almonds right out of the oven into the saucepan, mixed together until all liquid was absorbed then added them to the sugar/spice mixture ( I added cinnamon). I let them cool to room temp. No problem. Wonderful recipe.
