About this Cook
I am twenty-something college student with tastes he can't afford. My only real option to cook for myself all the food I can't buy. That said, I really enjoy cooking (very explorative and rewarding).
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook exotic foods with unusual but savory flavor combinations. Complexity is what I look for in a new dish. I like spicy curries, complex Italian sauces (with citrus and wines), and spicy (hot) Chinese stir-fries.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have no traditions and I have a very broad palate, but I'd say Italian food is my favorite to cook. It never disappoints me or my company.
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean curry and citrus white wine Alfredo (mostly thanks to this great site).
My cooking tragedies
I am terrible at cooking anything resembling a pastry. Not because I burn them, I just have no sense in selecting recipes that I like. I am not much into sweets.

Simple, Classic Chicken Potpie
This recipe was excellent. I made two pies (doubled the recipe) and with one of them I experimented with the garlic idea that other reviewers mentioned. I have to agree with cook's rating of the garlic. I usually love garlic, but it just wasn't that good in this recipe. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this recipe. I highly recommend it.

Beef Stroganoff III
This is such a delicious, simple, and versatile recipe. It has become my generic starting point for an easy stroganoff because it tastes great even when more inexpensive ingredients are used. I've cooked it according to the instructions before, and it was great, but it is also awesome cooked with inexpensive hamburger (be sure to drain some of the fat) and awful, cheap bottle of chardonnay. Overall it is easy, relatively quick to prepare, and inexpensive to make. This recipe deserves its 5 star rating.

Fantastic Black Bean Chili
Very nice! This was a pleasant change to the usual ground beef chili. Like other reviewers, I also added a 1/2 teaspoon of cumin. Because I didn't have basil or oregano at the time, I had to use Italian seasonings (which had a lot of marjoram in it). It still came out delicious.
