Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
I wasn't pleased with this recipe at all. I followed the directions exactly as is. The muffins didn't raise well at all (and my baking powder and soda are both new), and the topping made them fall in the centers. We couldn't taste the apple, and they were rather bland. I think with more apple, more spices, and possibly more flour they might be better - but that would be an entirely new recipe.

Mom's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
It tasted better before we put it in the oven - creamier and cheesier. Next time I will only bake for 15 minutes at 35. Overall it was very good.

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
The flavor of the meat is great in this recipe, unfortunately, the sauce never thickened up and tasted like chicken broth. I think some minor modifications would fix it, but we weren't all that impressed overall.

Italian Rubbed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
This was awful - even my husband wouldn't eat it and he eats everything. Won't be trying this again...waste of good meat.

Instant Russian Tea

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2005
Needs more tea and sugar - this is very very very tangy - we added another 1/2 C of tea and over a cup of sugar and it was much better.

Russian Tea

Perfect - exactly as my mother used to make me as a child! Sometimes we add red hots to give it that little extra kick.

Maple Glazed Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2004
Excellent! Rather than cook the ribs in water then marinate, I put them in the slow cooker with the sauce for 2-3 hours on low, then grill for 15-20 minutes with extra sauce. These are incredible - I love the flavor!

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: May 11, 2004
The taste was wonderful. I usually take time to read reviews before making a recipe, but was in a hurry this evening and didn't - that was a mistake. Next time I will definitely leave the water out. Rather than chicken breasts, I used leftover meat from the roast chicken we had the other day and it tasted just fine. Thanks for the recipe!!

No Fail Pie Crust II

Reviewed: May 8, 2004
Do NOT substitute anything in this recipe, it's perfect as is! This is the crust my Mom was famous for...I knew it the second I tasted it. I haven't made a pie in years, and for me it is difficult to work with pie crusts anyway, especially one so flaky. If you are having problems with it tearing like I was, roll it out on a piece of wax paper...it helps with handling. This is the flakiest, melt in your mouth pie crust ever...even if my meringue didn't turn out, at least my crust did!!!

Bacon Cheeseburger Upside Down Pizza

Reviewed: May 7, 2004
Absolutely delicious! I added some spices and used bacon bits instead of bacon, but otherwise left this unchanged. My kids are eating it now, and I'm on my way back for portion number 2!!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2004
Absolutely wonderful. We never change the recipe, it is just perfect the way it is - my opinion of course. A wonderful blend of flavors...tilapia is hard to find around here but when we find it - this is the only way we will cook it!!

Taste of Home's Hearty Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2004
Flour cooked the first time, I changed it a little to make it easier for us non-experienced chefs....after browning the onion I took it off the heat for a minute - added a little milk to cool it down, then added the rest of the milk and put it back on the heat...careful with even that or the flour will clump...I also used frozen corn instead of canned - that was a mistake...then put it in a casserole dish instead of the 11 X 7...also a mistake - took twice as long to cook...however... The flavor of this is very good - I added some garlic salt with the pepper...fresh garlic browned with the onion would be better. My 4 year old ate this...therefore it ranks high with me!!!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2002
Delicious! I added chicken broth instead of water and added some frozen mixed veggies an hour before serving - before adding biscuits. Also great for using up cheap chicken legs and thighs - if you are willing to pick the chicken off the bone! Used buttermilk biscuit dough and is absolutely wonderful. We have made this many times and it is now a regular on my menu-planner!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Absolutely wonderful. I had very short notice to bring something in to work, this was quick, easy, and perfectly delicious. I used a 9 X 13 pan with double crumbs and received so many compliments I had to send the recipe link to my whole team!!!
