Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
I am a meat loaf lover and my wife has been making great meat loaf for 30 years. This is the first one I made and I think it is better than hers. If you tell her that I will deny it. I took the advice of other reviewers and was generous on the amount of crackers, and used almost a cup. I mixed Ritz together with Cheeze-its. After baking 30 minutes I topped with the glaze Paula Deen uses - 1/3 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon brown mustard (Guldens). It was delicious. I'm glad I found this recipe.

Bleu Cheese Coleslaw

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
This is a very tasty slaw but you really need to like bleu cheese to enjoy it. I followed the recipe as written but went a little heavy on the cheese since I really like it. I don't think the sour cream adds much to the flavor, in fact I think it reduces the tang of the bleu cheese. Next time I will cut back or eliminate that ingredient.

Easy Minute Steaks

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
After seasoning with garlic salt and pepper, I browned the steaks, then drained the grease, lowered the heat and added a can of condensed onion soup, a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a small can of sliced mushrooms. Lowered the heat and simmered for about two hours. They were nice and tender and delicious. The soups made a pretty good grave for mashed potatoes but I probably should have thickened it some.

Easy Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
I didn't have honey dijon mustard so I just added honey to regular dijon mustard. Otherwise I followed the recipe as written except I marinated for about 6 hours. The tenderloin tasted great and it was easy to make - a great recipe. I served it with baked potato and broccoli.

Sweet and Tangy Slow Cooker Bar-B-Q Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
I made per the recipe except I omitted the bell pepper and I browned the ribs for 10 minutes per side at 400. I used a vidalia sweet onion. The sauce was really tasty, but the ribs were pretty dry. I guess my ribs were leaner than most or I browned them too long. Next time I will reduce the browning time. Served with baked potato and green beans. I will definetly try this one again.

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
I've been a member on this site for a few years and usually enjoy the recipes I've found here. I followed the recipe exactly as written and marinated them for 1-1/2 days.. My NY Strips tasted like vinegar and I still have the aftertaste in my mouth. And the steaks were not even any more tender than without the marinade. saturday night.

Shrimp and Crabmeat Loaf

Pretty tasty and easy to make. The canned seafood makes it a little pricy.

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
I am a Cincinnati native now living in Texas. I ate Skyline for over 40 years and I can tell you this recipe is very, very close. I did not put the onion in but used 1/2 tsp onion powder. The only thing I will change next time will be to cut back a little on the vinegar. I browned the beef separatly, drained the grease and added to the heating broth mixture. Brought it all to a boil, reduced heat, covered, and simmered for 1-1/2 hours. Then I used a stick blender as was previously suggested. The consistency was dead on. I let simmer for another 1/2 hour and refrigerated overnight. Next day I reheated slowly and let simmer for 30 minutes and servied piping hot over spaghetti and topped with grated cheddar. The next night I made cheese coneys with the leftovers. Both were delicious. This will definelty help when I need a Skyline "fix". Now, if someone could provide a La Rosa's spaghetti sauce recipe...

Taco Salad with Ranch Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
I fried 1" thick chicken breasts on medium/low heat seasoned with salt, pepper and a garlic and herb rub. They were juicy and had a great flavor. I made the salad according to the recipe, but it just didn't taste that good. It needed more flavors.

Tender Tomato Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2012
I made it in the crock pot. Although I did use onion powder and peppar, I didn't use anywhere near the amounts in the recipe. I seasoned the chicken with season salt, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Served over cooked white rice.

Kathy's Roast and Vegetables

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
This is really good! The soups makes a terrific gravy. I only had a top round roast, not sirloin, but it didn't matter. The meat was fork tender. I rubbed the meat with fresh pepper and garlic powder prior to browning. As others suggested I mixed the soups in the pan used for browning in order to deglaze the pan. I didn't have new potatoes so I quartered russert potatoes. Make sure you have some bread on hand to pour over the remaining gravy!

Pasta Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
It was good but not great. I used Emeril's Home Style Marinara sauce. Even though I added additional spices the dish still tasted a little bland. If I make this again I will make it with the Italian Spaghetti Sausce recipe from this site.

Simmered Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I followed the recipe but the meat did not get tender despite simmering for nearly two hours. Maybe I had a bad cut of meat. The taste was OK but not that great. I will keep on looking for a good Swiss Steak recipe.

Bacon Wrapped Pork Medallions

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
I made this as directed. It did have a decent flavor but, in my opinion, was too greasy. Pork tenderloin is a delicious cut of juicy, lean meat. It just seems a shame to bury its flavor in a recipe like this.

Mom's Quick Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
I only used about 3/4 of the envelope of onion soup and that was still too much for me. This sauce was pretty tasty, though I can't say it is better than some of the jar sauces.

Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
This was pretty good but probably not worth the calorie intake. I did reduce the mayo content to 1/4 cup and used light mayo. Next time I will try making it with fat free sour cream.

I took the advice of another reviewer and dredged the chicken in bread crumbs after dipping in the sauce. The breasts were moist, delicious and easy to make.
