Fresh Pear Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2001
This was a sure pleaser for darling fiance. I made a few adjustments and used what I had in the pantry. I used 1/2 t of all spice instead of cloves and I chopped up the toffe covered peanuts instead of using pecans. And the final adjustment was that I used a tube pan instead of a bundt pan. The cake still came out wonderful! The smell was so heavenly as it baked. This is a real keeper. I never knew pears can be incorporated into a cake!

Very delicious. I cooked mine for 1 hr and 10 minutes. I used chicken drumsticks and served it over white rice. It also made the whole kitchen smell wonderful!

Carnation® New England Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2001
Recipe was delicious but a little too thick. It also makes a lot! I added water the following day to thin it a little. It was still yummy.

Coq au Vin alla Italiana

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2001
I really impressed my family with this one. My mom said "Wow, it's gourmet like!". Fiance said it's so yummy even if he doesn't like wine! This is great! I served it with a tossed salad and creamy mashed potatoes. Yum!

Everything is delish...but maybe nextime I'll opt to do without the caraway seeds. It gave it a weird taste.

Caramel Apple Cake from Betty's Kitchen®

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
This was ok. The caramel gets too hard on the bottom. IT's also difficult to serve. It wasn't the greatest... it was just ok.

Beef Stroganoff II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2002
Followed suggestion of using less sour cream and adding milk. I also added fresh mushrooms to the sauce. This dish is very good.

Bratwurst, Potato and Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2002
This was great. Filling, cheap to make, easy! I do think, the cabbage is a little overcooked. I would reduce the last 20 minute simmer to about 10. Also, next time, I will find a less spicy sausage. We used one, and it had too much kick!

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2002
I used freshly grated parmesan, fresh parsley, a little extra butter a little bit more garlic, and seasoned the chicken w/ salt and pepper while it marinated overnite. It was a hit! This is a keeper. I served it over seasoned rice and boiled broccolli! yummy!

Chicken Risotto

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2002
This was dry! Nothing like risotto i've tasted. It's ok. Seasonings were good, but it's not the greatest recipe. I wanted the rice to be more moist and sticky. It was dry.. more like pilaf!

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2002
I served this for brunch and made 2 different quiches. One just like the recipe, the other I used spinach and mushroom instead of the brocolli. It was great! Everyone liked it.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
This was great. I made it 4x in one week to bring to give as gifts and bring to a party. As for the one I brought to the party, I tossed a pint of rasberries and black berries in a 1/4 cup of sugar and refrigerated it for about 30 minutes. I then took the berry mixture and filled the center of the cake with it. I also garnished the sides with some strawberries. It was wonderful. The fruit was a great compliment to the cake.
