Sesame Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2015
Very good recipe to fool around with - I read the reviews first and followed the recommendation of doubling the sauce - absolutely necessary! Also added the sesame oil at the end using a little more than called for. Used broccoli instead of peppers (don't like them) so doubled the cayenne to make up for that. Also doubled the garlic & ginger for more flavor. Added 2 cans of sliced water chestnuts because we love them. Instead of rice, used 1/2 pound of cooked rice noodles stirred in. The whole family loved it like this!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
Very good - I didn't think I'd like it as I usually bypass cream-of-soup based recipes, but the whole family liked this. I used fresh mushrooms and added them closer to the end. Also used beef broth in stead of boullion & water. The meat came out perfectly for me. And how can you go wrong with 16 oz of sour cream :)

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
This is perfect and so easy - I followed directions exactly and it was perfectly crisp, 285 was the right temp for me to make it brittle - but I did check it with the cold water test. So easy and addictive!

Cathy's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
I've been looking for a great banana bread recipe and have tried many - some were too dry, some too moist in the middle. This was PERFECT! I had 4 ripe bananas so I doubled the recipe and made two loaves. Added about 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and it was delicious, this will be me 'keeper' recipe :)

Hot Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
this is a good quick recipe that was easy enough that my kids made it for me for my birthday. It tastes a little like a hot brownie that was only partially cooked - but that was a good thing for me - and I agree with the others that say it MUST be eating with vanilla ice cream.

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
These are very good - we do them just a little differentl since we like to dip our breadsticks - we leave out the garlic. parmesan & basil. Mix each person a small dish of olive oil, minced fresh garlic, Italian seasoning & kosher salt and dip them - restaurant style.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
This is our family's regular brownie recipe - only I increase the flour to 3/4 cup to suit our tastes. Have been making these for years - I think the recipe orginally came from Hershey's. They are not a dark, fudgy brownie, but this is the way we like them and I will only eat them frosted!

Slow Cooker Creole Black Beans and Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
One of my family's favorite recipes - I've been making it for years, I think I originally got it from Southern Cooking. The only thing I do differently is cut the sausage into smaller pieces, leave out the bouillion, reduce water by 1/2 and increase cayenne to 1 teaspoon. I make this at least once a month and it makes your mouth water all day while it's cooking.

Tuna Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
This was very good and I don't usually like tuna casseroles. I skipped the step of cooking the soup, milk and cheese as I didn't see why it was necessary (I just added them to the other ingredients) - turned out great anyway and saved time, since it all melts together in the oven. Added a little Old Bay seasoning and topped with a mixtures of fresh bread crumbs & parmesan cheese. Yummy!

Florentine Chicken Ring

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
Very Good! I've made the similar Pampered Chef recipe before but prefer this as it uses spinach instead of broccoli, and no can of soup! I agree with the other reviewer that says this does NOT need the added salt, I will leave that out next time.

Nacho Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
Made this tonight and we all loved the flavor; however we thought the consistency was a bit 'gloppy'. Next time I will definitely just break up the chips, rather than crushing them, for more texture. Used minced garlic instead of garlic salt and 1/2 tspn. cayenne pepper instead of black. Great flavor!

Perfect Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
This was FABULOUS! I doubled the chicken & batter, and used 1/2 the sugar, and it was perfect. I couldn't find chili paste so I used Chili Sesame Oil and it had such a great flavor. This will be a new family favorite!

Lemon Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This is absolutely perfect if cooked correctly. At 45 minutes it was still liquid in the center. Cooked another 15-20 minutes it is perfect. I have made this many times, we like it with a fresh blueberry sauce on top.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
This was excellent and a defenite keeper to suite my tastes. It is NOT at all difficult... I made the following changes: doubled the ricotta (with an extra egg), fresh onions and herbs instead of dry, More of the cheeses (about 8 oz parm and 1 lb mozz.), 1 1/2 lbs. hot Italian sausage and no ground beef. I had the deli thinly slice the mozzarella. Also, no one mentions this but a beginner cook might not know, you must draiin the meat after browning it - the recipe doesn't mention this.

Steakhouse Black Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I guess this just wasn't what I was looking for. Wasn't a REALLY dark bread. I made these as rolls and they were very dense. My daughter loved them though and ate the leftovers over the next few days.

Peanut Blossoms II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
Absolutely perfect. These are a great recipe to make with kids! I used butter instead of Crisco (eww). Made 2 batches - made the balls a little too big the first time. They should be be just a little bigger than an inch in diameter. Took 11 minutes in my oven.

These were ok, but not the great roll I was looking for. Only took 15 minutes in my oven, so watch them carefully.

Texas Sheet Cake V

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This was PERFECT! I added an extra tablespoon of cocoa to the batter, and had to add a little more milk to the frosting (it was too thick to spread). Everyone loved it.
