About this Cook
I'm an elementary music teacher and a mom with a busy schedule. Our family likes simple, healthy food.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes. When I'm teaching during the school year, I don't have the time or energy to get creative with cooking. It's a treat to cook delicious meals for my family in the summertime.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes the best pie crusts in the world. No one does pies better!
My cooking triumphs
Lately, I've been working on using up some food that has been in the freezer too long. At least once a week, I thaw something out that has been in there for over a year. So far, everything has turned out great! The prime rib was the best.
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I were first married, he told me he loved gizzards and rice. I overcooked the gizzards, and no matter how long we chewed, they wouldn't go away! It was like chewing a big hard wad of gum. I don't do gizzards anymore.

Banana Crumb Muffins
What a simple and delicious recipe! I made mini muffins for a brunch potluck. Mmmm.

Basic Corn Muffins
The perfect amount for 24 mini-muffins! I added 1/2 cup frozen corn. It makes a nice texture and flavor, if you like that sort of thing. The muffins are great served with honey butter.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
This taste's so good, I want to eat the whole loaf! I used mashed bananas, not sliced.
