Chomeur's Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
I am so impressed with how great this dish came out considering the few simple ingredients. I did add an equal amount of maple extract since I read that the traditional version of the recipe actually uses maple syrup! Two thumbs up, this is definitely going in my recipe book!

Tourtiere (Meat Pie)

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
Great recipe, but you do have to cook the potatoes a bit before putting them in the pie. I diced them into tiny bits but they still came out crunchy with the recipe as is, so definitely boil them for about 10 or so minutes before putting them into the oven!!! Great flavors though!

Lemon Poppy Seed Shortbread

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
This is the first lemon cookie I have come to love! The lemon in this delicate cookie is faint and the poppyseeds give a great crunch! Perfect with tea!

Nova Scotia Blueberry Cream Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
Great tasting "cake".. BUT the "cake" part was pretty hard and more like a cookie than a cake. Don't get me wrong, everyone raved about how great it was.. but a softer cake layer would've made this five star!

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
Flavor was ok, but wayyy too crumbly for us! Really hard to eat and so not worth the effort! Better off making shortbread thumbprints with raspberry jam in the middles!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
Excellent Tasting. However, I made 3 mini loaves and 1 regular. My mini loaf pans are silicone and the outsides of the cakes and especially the bottom came out very dark and burned. As did the regular size metal pan, however less dark. I would recommend lowering the oven temp. and lengthening the time baking! Very great though, will make again!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
NOT a true red velvet recipe. I used the whole 1 ounce bottle of red coloring and the batter looked bright fuschia, after adding the cocoa/flour mix it turned into a brown red. Not beautiful and certainly not up to par on flavor!! You're better off looking for a REAL red velvet recipe!!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I was so excited to make these because they sound delicious. But for me it ended there. They sounded good but didn't taste like I wanted them to. I made the recipe as is with no changes and found the cream cheese mixture came out a bit too tangy and just not sweet enough. All in all, I will not be making these again :(

Magic Peanut Butter Middles

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
O-M-G! Are these ever delicious!! I took other reviews suggestions and added 1 TBSP sour cream & 1.5 TBSP brewed coffee and added both to the wet mixture. The dough was easier to handle than I expected! I didn't have leftover peanut balls -- I flattened out the dough with the palms of my hand, placed the pb ball in the center and while still holding it in place flipped my hands over, let the dough drape over the entire ball and pinched off the excess dough. Then I just rolled them to make smoother! This made it easy to work with!!! I'm VERY impressed with this recipe! oh and btw don't cut the sugar, use the amount directed-- they are perfection if you're a chocolate/PB fanatic like me!! Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
This was the first cheesecake I ever attempted and the recipe is AMAZING! A true cheesecake, not too sweet and not too bland! I tried the bain marie and also left the cheesecake in the oven as directed but both times I made this cheesecake it cracked. I don't know what the trick is! All I know is once you taste this cake it won't matter what the top looks like! It was a major hit and Christmas last year!!!! Will definitely make again and again!
