Chef John's Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
I'm not a new cook, but gravy and its timing on a holiday, with a house full of people, is always what makes me sweat. I've looked at this recipe for some time and finally tried it. Bless you, Chef John! I've just finished it and the flavor is wonderful. I'm sure with the addition of some of the Thanksgiving turkey's goodness it can only get better. Thank you!

Asparagus, Chicken, and Pecan Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
Lovely subtle flavors.I did not use the whole pound of pasta, but everything else was perfect for us.A pound would be fine for a bigger family/group though, great way to stretch that food $, and the dish would still be wonderful. I'm going to try it again with brown rice.We loved this.

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
I made it exactly according to recipe, and we loved it! I tried it a few days later with strawberries, but didn't like it as well. Apparently my husband felt the same because he brought blueberries home today and asked for another. Thank you for this recpe!

Russian Black Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
This is a delicious bread. More airy and soft than I expected Russian Black bread to be, but no less wonderful. I used my bread machine through the first rise, but finished traditionally. Lovely. Thank you for sharing!

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I've been baking bread for years, but somehow haven't been able to get an Italian loaf that made me happy. This bread makes me happy! The crumb was awesome. Not that big fluffy stuff from the grocers. But the crust was where it really excelled. Perfect.Thank you so much for sharing.

Cinnamon Hazelnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
This is a lovely biscotti! I followed other reviewers' advice and used 1/2 cup butter. The basic cookie is like an empty canvas. Use your imagination. After making the first batch according to Kris's recipe, which we all loved, I began to experiment. My favorite was using almond extract, candied ginger, and lemon zest. Dip the bottom edge of cooled cookie in white chocolate, and then almonds...delicious! Kris, thank you for taking the time to share!

This is a lovely oatmeal cookie, as written. Not crazy about clove...leave it out. Want nuts...put them in.
