Gone with the Wind Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
i made this for a family gathering and everyone loved it!!! even my picky grandmother said that it was the best angel cake she'd ever had. I was really glad to find a recipe that didn't have 12 eggs and the cake had a great texture, tho it was kinda dry the next day. I served it with the Supreme Strawberry Topping from this sight and homemade whipped cream

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
i made these for my dad for father's day and he was totally suprised and loved them! They took me longer than ninety minutes, but that probly just me. I thought that the filling was maybe a little too buttery, but everyone else said that they liked them the way they were. i was glad that these didn't call for a bread machine. i just served them plain and they were a great success!!

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
this was great!! i have already made six batches of this stuff and have served it to all of my relatives. the directions aren't all that clear so i made it like this: chop up ! pint of strawberries. Take 2/3 of them and pu them in a pot along with the sugar and vanilla. Cook for more than 5 minutes, stirring, untilthe berries have let out all of their juice. Then pour this into a blender and combine. Then pour this back into the pot and add the rest of the strawberries. Cook for 5 mins. Serve chilled.

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I made these biscuits a few weeks ago and they were super easy and really good and simple. I actually made these as a topping for chicken pot pie IX from this site and it was really good. (See my review on it for more details) Thanks dakota!

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This was amazing!! I cut this recipe in half to serve three peple and everyone loved it. I accidently added more cinnamon than called for, but it was still great. We had it served over vanilla ice cream and it tasted like apple pie filling except better. This is definatly a keeper cant wait to make this again. One thing though, be careful not to slice the apples too thin... I made mine thicker than 1/4 inch

Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
These were amazing! My family absolutely loved them. I used freshly picked apples and instead of buying the container of pie crusts like the recipe calles for, I made the Buttter Flakey Pie Crust and wrapped 5 entire small apples (peeled cored, and cut into 2 halves). I had a little bit of trouble getting the apples wrapped but that was because of my changes and I was able to eventually cover them. A warning though, on two of the dumplings, somehow the pastry must have ripped while bking because whaen I took them out, the filling had spilled out onto the pan. On these two, the apples did not have as much flavor on the inside and were not as good as the others.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This was good. I made this to wrap Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce. It took longer to prepare this than the recipe said (which I was expecting). The crust didn't turn out to be very falky but it was fine. I really liked the fact that this recipe didn't call for lard or shortening

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
i liked this recipe and was excited to make it for its crunchy topping. my family thought it was pretty good but could b much better. Some of their complaints included that the topping was too sweet (which i disagreed with)and that the apples could have been better. I sliced th apples too thin however and they would have been better a bit chunkier. The next day though I thought it tasted better cold.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
I made this a few weeks ago and my family loved it! My father now refuses to eat any other pot pie. However, I made some major changes based on other reviews and my own personal preference, so I am only giving this a 3, as I think without these, it would not have turned out nearly as good.I made the filling (which is what I am rating) of this recipe but added a potato, and about 1/4 tsp. of garlic powder and 1/2 tsp. of chicken seasoning, although next time I'll probably add more spices. Also, I think I added extra veggies than was called for. i really liked the filling because it was not all gravy, like most other potpies. I put this in the oven, covered with tinfoil with holes and baked it for 20 mins. While it was cooking, I made Never Fail biscuits from the site. This made a lot of dough, so a half recipe might be the way to go. When the twenty minutes were up, I took the filling out, and quickly placed as many of the biscuits as I could on top. Then, I put it back in the oven until the biscuits were golden on the edges, about 10-15 minutes.

Glazed Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
I made this cake a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty good. However, my family didn't like the flavor the cake had (presumably from the pudding mix), sayin gthat it was fake. The glaze was good. Not a do again.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
I made this recipe for a weekday dinner instead of using canned mix but wasn't really pleased with the results. I mean, the sloppy joes wern't horrible, they just wern't good. mI didn't think that there was enough tomato flavor or sauce and that it was too beefy tasting if that makes any sense. WOn't b making this again.

Finnish Cookie Sticks

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
these were a disaster!!!! i made these cookies for my geography class and people were scared to eat them. I had no idea what kind of almonds to use, so i pu in blanched almonds. Like other reviews suiggested, i combined the sugar and almonds together to roll the sticks in. This method worked okay for the first like 15 cookies but then the mixture became so saturated with the egg that came of the sticks, that i could only get the stuff to stick in akward clumps. When they came out of the oven almost all of the cookies were pretty gross looking, a yellowish color and with strange clumps. When i tried them, the coating was chewy and oddly flavorless. The inside was okay iguess but had a weird aftertaste.
