About this Cook
i am a mommy to a beautiful and happy baby girl who adds laughter and love to every day of my life. i like to cook and bake, but wish i could do it more often. my wish is to open a successful bakery someday.
My favorite things to cook
i love baking...cupcakes, cookies, breads, cakes, anything. i love using my slow cooker, especially to make the chicken taco soup on this site!
My favorite family cooking traditions
my family is salvadorean so sometimes my mom makes a classic dish called pupusas...basically stuffed corn tortillas. you can stuff them with cheese, beans, pork. they are a bit cumbersome to make, but so worth it!
My cooking triumphs
there is a restaurant in my hometown that serves the most delicious seafood pasta jambalaya. i found the recipe online and decided to try to replicate it. it had A LOT of ingredients, and took a while to make. BUT it tasted exactly the same as the original. i was proud!
My cooking tragedies
when i was younger, i tried to make rice (on the stovetop) and it would never turn out right. ever since then i haven't attempted it, not even in the microwave. recently, i got brave enough to try it in the microwave and it was good. the more times i make it, the better i get.

Chipotle Cheeseburger
these burgers were delicious and easy to make. i made them in a skillet, but i bet they would be absolutely amazing on the grill. the cilantro mayo really brought all the flavors together. i even made extra to dip fries in :) thanks for sharing.

Black Beans and Pork Chops
wow this was absolutely delicious! i couldn't believe the amout of flavor that came out of such simple and few ingredients! very easy and quick to make. i served them with garlic mashed potatoes. the bean sauce was so good that i topped the potatoes with it! will definitely keep this in my weeknight rotation of recipes. thanks for sharing!

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World
i had never tried meatless crumbles and was curious about a vegetarian chili so i decided to try this recipe because of the great reviews. it was okay, but i don't think i'll make it again. it did make a HUGE amount and i ended up throwing away about 2/3 of it since it's just my husband and i. i think one of my mistakes was using tomato puree instead of crushing up the whole peeled tomatoes myself. i figured i would save some time, but it was way too much tomato sauce. my dutch oven overflowed. also, the meatless crumbles grossed me out a bit. i'm sure it's just mental! the celery was way too crunchy, meaning i didn't cook it long enough. anyway, thank you for sharing!
