I have only been cooking on my own for about four years now. My husband and I have somewhat different inclinations regarding food, so we have both been trying new things since we've been together. I used to be a vegetarian and prior to that a vegan, so I have some issues with meat. Basically, if it bleeds, I don't want to have anything to do with it. So we eat alot of chicken, but not the legs or wings (too many tendons and veins).
My favorite things to cook
I love Italian food. Going to Italy and eating for a month would be a dream to me. But until then, I am trying to learn more about Italian cooking and all of the different regional specialities they have. After Italian it's probably Mexican and then Thai cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has never been very sophisticated when it comes to cooking. They are pretty much all-american, down-home people. Which is fine, it's very comforting actually. I am trying to be a little more creative though.
My cooking triumphs
My proudest moment was christmas of 2007? I made a cranberry snow cake out of Sunset magazine. It was more complicated than anything I had ever attempted before, and my relatives were completely surprised. They had no idea that I could bake like that!!! It came out beautifully, and I was really pleased, to say the least.
My cooking tragedies
There have been a few.:(
