Chris' Bay Area Burger

Very good burger! I thought it was a bit salty but no one else complained and I'm the salt lover in the family. Still, I'll cut back the salt a bit next time. One thing: my son's grill flared like crazy from the olive oil!

The Best Oatmeal Cookies

I'm not a big fan of oatmeal cookies but bake them because my family loves them. I must say, these cookies truly are the best oatmeal cookies ever! Made exactly as written. Delish!!

I, too, was nevous that it might be too dry but it was actually too watery for me. Also, a little too much on the sweet side. Still, it was delish and my menfolk loved it!

Wave Your Flag Cheesecake

This was really delicious! I made exactly as directed except I used Entemanns All Butter Loaf since I couldn't find the recommended pound cake. Worked just fine but used two loaves. I don't know if that's because I sliced them too thick. In any event, this receipe is easy, refreshing and just plain yummy. I did not think the topping was too rich as others did. Personal preference?

Watergate Salad

This is an old recipe frequently brought to church potlucks and found in church cookbooks. Use a 16-20 oz. can of crushed pineapple and an entire tub of Cool Whip. Also, unless you really, really like the taste of pistachio pudding, only one (4 serving size) box is needed. When made correctly, this is a refreshingly yummy dish; however, I'm giving the recipe as written 3 stars.

Barbecued Beef

This was so delish! Really, really good! I did only two things different: 1) I slow cooked the beef; removed it from the pot when done; shredded it; dumped all the gunk and fat from the pot; returned the beef to the pot; then added the sauce. 2) Instead of garlic powder, I used fresh minced garlic.

Elegant Lemon Pork Chop Bake

This reminds me of an old recipe I have made in the past. I incorporated some of the ideas from reviewers (Aimiathena and iluvmyangylrose). I made a rub of garlic powder, lemon pepper and salt; then, braised the chops in a little olive oil. Removed the chops and made the *gravy* as called for but added a little water and cornstartch. It was very good. Hubby loved it. I may try this with chicken.

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad

Oh my! This is an amazing mac salad recipe. My husband said it's the best macaroni salad he's ever tasted. My son loved it as well. Honestly, I was so afraid it was going to be too sweet especially when I sampled some before refridgerating. It's important that it sets overnight in the fridge. Just the right amount of sweetness with an extra kick from the onion. Delicious!!!!

Beef Stroganoff III

Delicious and the best I've ever prepared! I substituted fresh pearl mushrooms for the canned and added them when I sauteed the onions. I also used one medium onion instead of the green onions.

Pork Chops with Herbed Gravy

I also followed this recipe to the letter except I took the advice of another reviewer and used a salt-free herb seasoning in place of the paprika. Then I added two pinches of coarse Kosher salt. Two pinches because I doubled the recipe. Took it one step further and halved small white potatoes and added them into the baking pan. My husband just loved it!

Fresh Cherry Cobbler

Great recipe and very easy to alter. I had 6 C of fresh cherries on hand so I increased the ingredients by half. Also, took the advice of other reviewers and decreased the sugar and added vanilla but should have cut way back on the butter. I used a 10X13 baking dish and baked for 55 min. It came out almost custard-like but very yummy! Will cut back the butter next time around.

Chicken Gruyere with Sauteed Mushrooms

First I must say that I'm not a fan of any kind of smothered meats. I made this for my husband as he tried it at a restaurant and loved it; however, the restaurant recipe was a bit different and I may try it their way next time. I think there were way too many mushrooms and the onions should have been diced. I will also kick up the spices in the flour as the flavor was bland. I will also add sliced tomato on top of the chicken (restaurant recipe) before the cheese. Hubby is not a fan of tomatoes but loves them this way. Oh, and don't forget to pound the chicken! Very important!
