About this Cook
I LOVE to eat! Seriously. All of the time. I am like a kid in a candy shoppe at the deli and can hardly wait to rush home and try new products and create new recipes. The counter people know me on sight and usually have treats for me to try and fabulous suggestions for meal experiments. I really need a roommate/hungry hitchhiker, as I love to cook and need to start sharing more. I just can't help myself. Making beautiful meals is amazingly satisfying and the food tastes so gosh darn good!!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking and have an uncontrollable sweet tooth. My second favorite meals to create are pasta dishes, usually with a dash of savoury and sweet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a Ukrainian heritage, with a mother who loved Mexican food. My grandmother doesn't cook, but makes stellar blueberry muffins and legendary waffles.
My cooking triumphs
I took great pride in my triple ginger bundt cake. It was the most complicated thing I ever baked and it turned out amazing! I paired it with strawberries my uncle had soaked in honey and cognac.
My cooking tragedies
I was making a lasagna for my aunt who was visiting from Nebraska. We waited for two hours and it just wouldn't cook. Then I realized I'd never turned on the oven!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
Num, num, num! I made these a tad healthier by using a sugar substitute, all-natural applesauce vs oil, and carob chips. (And no cocoa powder.)

Kasha and Bowties (Kasha Varnishkas)
As a child of Ukrainian heritage, I grew up with kasha. And hated it. With a passion. As an adult I figured I'd give it another go, as it is so good for you. This recipe made me want to eat more. :) I substituted water for the chicken broth, as I'm vegetarian, and used blood orange olive oil. What a yummy dinner! I had two helpings!!

Healthy Banana Cookies
OMG! I could not, literally, stop eating these. A dozen and a half before bed and another dozen by the end of the next work day.
