No-Guilt Zesty Ranch Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
i just made this in the afternoon and ive eaten half of it. its so yum! made as the recipe stated but decreased the horseradish since my son isnt a fan. TOO GOOD! **edited** ive been omitting the bacon bits in some batches of this and using it in place of ranch and sour cream in most any dish and you cant tell the difference. its good on salads too. man its just good.

Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
i really like these. i made these as written except i increased it to 16 muffins for 8 people for a sunday breakfast at work. if youre after a sweet dessert type muffin these arent for you. if you want something savory and sweet to have with coffee ( or in our case sausage ) these were just right. super easy. im totally impressed.

i made this for my clients at work and they loved it. i did drain my sausage really well and i added fresh green beans i had cooked n the microwave to tender crisp to make this a complete meal with cornbread. i used balsamic no ww vinegar on hand and red onions since thats what we had. this wasnt as good cold but microwaved to just warmed it was as perfect as the first time i made it. 5 stars.

Sassy Steak Marinade and Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
very good! i didnt have cocktail sauce so i made my own with a 2/3 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons horseradish and a squeeze of lemon. i didnt have time to marinate but did pour about half over the steaks and mushrooms and let them cook about 10 minutes and served the extra beside the steaks. this really worked with the cheap cut of steaks i used for dinner.

wow killer sandwich. i made my own guacamole and used garlic and chive cream cheese since its what i had. i made this for my husband who prefers a club sandwich to a plain old blt but i was out of turkey. this would be a great pub dinner night sandwich served with fries. ill make it for him again. dont skip the cream cheese it really adds something.

Carne Asada Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
5 stars and I had to change it up based on what was in my pantry. I ended up with an extra kiddo tonight and only had 2 small roundsteaks out for dinner. I didnt have the tomatillos so I used canned green chiles. I added a splash of rooster sauce to the marinade because my husband is addicted to it. I served this with cheesy rice and refried beans. Not a bit of this left. I dont think it feeds 6 but its still a solid recipe.

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
this is good and simple. to get what i needed i did decrease the water by 1/2 and added a tsp of sugar to cut the acidity. i needed a thicker pizza sauce for my daughter to have ghetto pizza for lunch this week. ghetto pizza= white bread spread with pizza sauce and topped with parm cheese or mozarella and broiled until the cheese melts. this made enough to fill a small jar and cost half what the already made "pizza quick" costs. impressive and easy.

Marinated Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
so good! i give my family a salad of some kind with dinner every night. usually im not a fan of raw mushrooms though i do like them cooked. i had a few sliced mushrooms left from the ones i topped steak with and a couple tomatoes from my garden so i decided to try this and im glad i did. i did decrease the oil i only had about a half cup. this is simple and good and looks nice on the plate.

Take-Out Fake-Out Pollo Con Crema

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2011
made this for my girls at work. had to sub tomato paste for ketchup and evap milk for heavy cream ( something i learned from the recipe author actually) and this was so good. ive never had the authemtic kind so i cant compare but they loved this and asked for seconds. it served 6 women and 2 staff members with some leftovers. we did actually put some salsa verde on these and some people opted cheddar and sour cream to top them with but i ate mine as is and didnt want to add anything. thank you sarah.

Hope's Colorful Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
i didnt have the broccoli but i kept everything else pretty true to the recipe. i dont think i used 2 cups of mayo but i probably used more than 8 oz of the salad dressing. i used a home made version from this site. i like the dry mustard in this. it gives it something extra. it makes alot but i sent some to my mother in law and she called for the recipe. ill try it with broccoli too but i dont see how this could get any better. five stars.

Grandma's Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
i subbed apple juice for the sherry since i dont keep it on hand and this is by far one of the best pork chop recipe ive tried on this site. i did add about a half of a sliced white onion to the pan when i did the garlic and i sprinkled the chops with ms dash before i cooked them. very slight changes i dont think altered the recipe a bit. this was amazing and great with mashed potatoes green beans and a tomato salad. ill make this alot this winter!

My Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
im rating this more for the seasonings more than the recipe. i increased the servings to 16 because i wanted to make this last a couple days and freeze a container too. i used 2 tall cans of chili beans, 3 stewed tomatoes, and 2 tomato sauce. i only had about 1 and 1/2 lbs of ground beef and it seemed plenty meaty for us. after i tasted it i did add 2 tsp of brown sugar to cut the acidity. my husband used rooster sauce to make his a little hotter and my 6 year old who hates chili saying its too spicy had a whole bowl last night and a burrito with it tonight. pleased with this.

Mexican Corn Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
halved this recipe and made this with on hand ingredients. used jarred jalapenos and increased them since they seem less hot and i eyeballed the oil.. made it in a cast iron skillet and heated the greased skillet prior to pouring the batter in so it would get a nice crispy brown crust. ill make this again.

i scaled this down because i was only feeding 2 adults and my dh asked for a nice cold lunch after he cut grass all morning. this is by far the best egg salad ive ever eaten. i did add a rib of celery and i used full fat mayo and lt sour cream and garlic salt instead of regular. i will make this again.

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
i made this from the recipe on the side of the cocoa can and then an AR member pointed out the recipe was on the site and i had to review it. i didnt make the frosting only the cake. this cake is a keeper! im not a scratch baker i always use a box cqke mix. no more! well not for chocolate. this recipe is easy and not intimidating and came together beautifully. its moist and rich and even though i frosted it with a canned coconut pecan frosting i dont think it really needs more than a light dust of powdered sugar or a simple glaze. totally proud of myself and my clients at work ate it up. five stars all the way.
