Simple Cajun Seasoning

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
this is a great on the fly seasoning blend. i reduced the cayenne because my little girl can handle hot food like the grownups and i used about half the salt. i tried some on a piece of raw potato i was cutting for dinner and opted to add some garlic powder. really easy and we liked this alot. thanks.

Kickin' Chicken Salad with BBQ Ranch Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
i used the chicken recipe as is with boneless chicken breasts and served my salad on the side. i seasoned my chicken as the recipe states with a home made cajun seasoning blend and let sit in the refrigerator until dinner about 4 hours. i brushed my chicken with a bacon onion bottled ranch dressing placed the seasoned onions on top and then the bbq sauce about half way through cooking. it turned out amazing. a really good way to season chicken and the onions were very good. next time ill try the salad but we needed something more filling last night thank you so much!

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
excellent i had to change it to half the amount of cream corn since i only had the half size can. i used a full cup of taco blend cheese which is half cheddar half monterey jack. i added a splash of rooster sauce and 1/2 the sugar which was plenty sweet for us.

Frenchie's Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
my little girl loved this! i did decrease the sugar by half and used canola oil since i dont keep sunflower seed oil on hand. i also used minced onion. very easy very good and i got a full bottle of dressing from the leftovers. i think it will get even better as it sits and the flavors meld. excellent recipe.

Chip Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
this is a pretty good change from plain old sour cream/dry ranch dip. i thought it was really thick so i thinned it with a little extra milk. i also used minced onion instead of chopped to save some time. thanks.

Marinated Beef Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
i changed this because i was short on time. i used sliced deli roast beef and put it in the ziplock with the marinade ingredients for about an hour and then heated it with some of the marinade in the skillet. very good sandwich i like the flavor of the marinade and it was excellent to sip the sandwich in. i used deli made onion rolls and for the grown ups i added a touch of franks red hot to the sauce we dipped our sandwiches in. next time i buy a roast ill make these again. also my husband added spicy mustard to his and said it was delish. thank you

Pineapple Chicken with Spaghetti

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
stars for how good this was at cleaning out my veggie drawer and everything else i keep on hand. i did think after i tried this that it needed a sour to compliment the sweet and it was a little bland so i added a few shakes of franks red hot and that helped alot. ill make this again. ps there is no colorful burst of fruity goodness.

Spicy Potatoes and Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
the potatoes are awesome in this . i made bacon with dinner so instead of the veg oil i used 2 tbl of bacon grease ( about) and i added chopped onion to the potatoes when they were frying. i didnt have tumeric so i omitted it if i see it ill get some and add it next time i make this. i think it can be made all in one pan too since thats what i did. nice change up to breakfast for dinner. we had whole wheat toast and strawberry jam and big glasses of cold milk and everyones happy and full. thanks.

Quick and Simple Broccoli and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
i really liked that this used cheddar cheese instead of velveeta since i dont keep velveeta on hand very often and its super expensive. i used extra sharp cheddar cheese and i did make a slight change i steamed my broccoli and then melted the butter with a quarter cup of half n half and added the cheese slowly to make a creamy sauce. very good.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
a really good marinade. i had to adapt it a little to what i had on hand so i used grainy mustard, low sodium soy sauce, and the juice of a whole lemon. i pounded the heck out of my steak and let this sit on it for about an hour. ill make this again.

Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
i made this recipe for some clients at work and they loved it. i didnt have the unsweet squares so i subbed cocoa for it. ( the sub amounts are on the side of the can). i used walnuts because thats what we had and these came out really nice. i think you could cut back the sugar by a half cup and they would still be good. thanks

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
i didnt add the salt and found it didnt need it. i used leftover hotdog buns and regular hellmans mayo. i like the kick the mayo gives it. i used fresh parm cheese too and that helped. four stars because as is i can see this would be way too salty.

this stuff is AMAZING. this is by far one of the best recipes ive made on this site. i used banana peppers from my garden and since they werent very hot i added a few shakes ( maybe1 tbsp) of cayenne. i made a big bowl and they were dipping hard pretzels and chips into it and it was good on the hot dogs good. this is almost a mustardy relish. went especially well on polish sausages.

Justin's Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
i made this for a bbq at my house today and i think it was really good. i only made a couple small changes. i used red onion since its what i had and i used ranch for the creamy salad dressing. i also added in 2 teaspoons of minced garlic and used red bell pepper for the green. i thought this wasnt moist enough after i chilled it so i added a little more milk and it was fine. good crunch from the celery. thank you
