Amy's Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
i kept to the recipe except i used 5 cans green beans, added a splash of milk and omitted the salt. everything else stayed the same. this is fantastic. it made a big roaster pan full and it was almost all gone at the end of christmas dinner. i like it with the cheese in it. i liked this recipe because it didnt call for velveeta which isnt a staple in my kitchen. awesome recipe.

Cracker Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
i made this with my little girl and used the last of the almond bark i had melted for dipping pretzels. these were good. i think the almond bark worked as well as chocolate chips do. my husband had managed to resist every kind of candy i made except this one. he kept picking at the little bits that broke off when i broke it into pieces. mine came out a little greasy. since its the first time ive made this im assuming its my error and not the recipes.

Easy Pea Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
im probably rating this wrong because based on what was in the work pantry i loosely used this recipe. i upped the peas to six cans because it was going to be served at a potluck tree lighting. i didnt have the cheese so i omitted it and added 3 boiled eggs and i had to use regular mayo. there was about 1/3 of the bowl left and i saw it on a few plates. i think this is an acquired taste.

Sausage Scramble

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
i used fresh potatoes and added onion since i didnt have the packaged ones and we like onions. i drained my sausage and potatoes a little bit before i added the eggs. i think 1/2 cup milk was a little much for me getting a hard set scrambled egg. after cooking it i added rooster sauce, salt and pepper too. its a good base recipe with some tweaking.

Bacon Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
this was lunch for me and the hubby today while we watched a movie. i wanted something kinda light since i work a different shift than usual today and i didnt want to be tired. i made 2 batches of 8 of these the first ones to the recipe and they were good but the bacon wasnt quite as crisp as id like. for the 2nd batch i just chopped the bacon and added a handful ( maybe a scant 1/4 c) and mixed it into the pita slices and baked it. i liked it better this way because i could get my bacon really crispy and the onion added something i thought was missing. very good both ways depending on what you like.

Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
the only change i made was i used 2 small plum tomatoes chopped instead of 1/4 tomato sauce since i only had a big can and i couldnt see opening it for such a small amount. very good with rice and beans. we made these into burritos.

Mom's Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
this was easy to throw together with stuff i already had on hand. i did add some minced garlic and rooster sauce after i tasted it. this was better after it simmered on the stove all afternoon. i increased this to 12 servings and ended up with a big pot full. very quick and good.

Teriyaki Onion Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
I made this into a meatloaf because it worked well with what was in my pantry. I did add some chopped red bell pepper and some bread crumbs and an egg to hold it together and a tablespoon of minced garlic. I used regular teriyaki sauce since I didnt have a marinade and I added it on top with a few reserved crispy onions. Baking it smelled awesome and tasted good too. We had cheesy rice and green beans with it. Excellent fall food.

Cola Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
i think you could half the brown sugar in these because if you use regular soda its pretty sweet already. i used coke zero and all the brown sugar and it was a tad sweet. that said these were super tender and a good change up from pan fried pork chops.

BLT Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I made this as a side dish to go with soup so I cut the bacon in half and used less croutons I left the lettuce, tomato and dressing the same. My bacon was maple which I think lended a little sweet to the dressing but nobody seemed to mind it with the potato soup. Excellent and easy.

Busy-Day Dinner

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
this is alot like goulash my mom made when i was little. today i needed a comforting mom meal. i wanted to spend some time in the kitchen so i browned the ground beef and let everything simmer on the stove for a couple hours adding v8 juice as it needed it. i added some garlic but followed the other ingredients exact. i added my cooked macaroni about 10 mins before we ate and i dusted the bowls with grated cheese. this was really good with a green salad and buttered bread. ill make it again.

Cheesy Potatoes I

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
i dont have processed cheese food in the house unless im making rotel dip so i used shredded sharp cheddar cheese and i felt it would need more than s&p so i added some garlic. i used a big onion and i think id use a smaller one next time. all in all a basic solid recipe just needs more seasoning.
