Reviewed: May 19, 2012
I really really wanted to like this. It just wasn't for us. My husband said " this isnt your potato salad".

Roast Pork

Wow. Totally 5 stars. I used low sodium soy sauce and a little less sugar because I was low and powdered ginger. Everyone inhaled this.

Nacho Tacos

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
I subbed cheddar cheese soup for the fiesta soup in this because I didnt have it. I added a couple tablespoons of mild salsa and upped the chili powder. I made my own taco shells. I tasted it after I added everything and they were very plain. I added some rooster sauce, no salt seasoning and more chili powder. This was ok its not that special and I might make it again if I had more soup to use up. I would add alot more seasonings maybe even taco seasoning.

Wieners and Beans

Reviewed: May 10, 2012
Started these with Sandys baked beans from this site and they were a tad sweet but the dry mustard took care of that. I actually fried my hotdogs to brown them a little bit and then added the baked beans, bbq sauce and mustard.

Magical Egg Salad

Reviewed: May 10, 2012
Excellent. I didnt have sweet relish opened and didnt want to struggle with the big jar for such a little bit so I chopped up a big dill pickle and used it. This was good and a new twist on egg salad.

Grandpa Bob's Spicy Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2012
I added rooster sauce since I didnt have hot pepper and the sauce had plenty of kick. I made 36 servings and ended up with enough for my chicken and a full quart jar. I used some on my husbands chicken sandwich today and its better the longer it sits. Its not sweet at all so if you want it sweet add some brown sugar. A great sauce.

Simple Caesar Salad Dressing

Reviewed: May 7, 2012
As is 3 stars. I tasted it before I put it on the salad and knew it needed something so I added about a teaspoon of sugar and about 1/3 cup oil. Its pretty tangy without a little sugar to even it out I think next time I would omit one of the acids in this.

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
I had a 5 pound pork loin so I doubled the ingredients. I had planned to make this in my oven yesterday but it was in the nineties here so I opted to cook it on my grill. I put half of the glaze on and then wrapped it in foil and cooked it on the grill for 2 hours. I used a sprinkle of cornstarch to thicken up the other half on my stovetop for anyone who wanted more sauce. This lent itself easily to bbq sauce today for lunch.

excellent recipe. one batch coated 14 drumsticks on our grill. i think this would also be excellent with some hot sauce or peppers added to make a grown up bbq sauce.

Margaret's Honey Mustard

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2012
i didnt have cayenne so i added a teaspoon of sriacha sauce. i put this on pork chops that were cooking on the grill. i would cut the mayo back by at least half and up the mustard. it wasnt really mustardy at all. it was ok on the pork chops but i wouldnt dip into this sauce or put it on greens.

i used a little less pork sausage more like 1/4 pound and i reduced the onion soup mix by half since the two reviews said it was too much. these were alright i might make them again but i wouldnt add the sausage ( its just weird in there in my opinion)

Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I didnt use half and half because Im on a budget and not buying it at the moment. I used a can of evaporated milk instead and added 2% milk until I thought it was the right consistency. I didnt quite need all of the flour about 4 tablespoons. This was pretty good. Helped me get dinner on in a pinch. Id like to add ham or bacon next time it seemed like it needed something.

I tripled this to make a giant batch of spaghetti. I didnt use the mushrooms I didnt have them and I added a splash of balsamic after I added the sugar because it was a little too sweet for me. solid recipe.

Sweet and Spicy Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
I used an olive oil and black pepper mayo because Im trying to use it up. I added 1 heaping tablespoon of Wickles ( a spicy sweet pickle mix) and just a few drops of sriracha. This is an excellent change to normal I wouldnt put eggs in it but I might add something for a little crunch. Its a texture thing not a flavor thing.

Bulgur Barbecue

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
Great stretch for ground beef! I used about 2 tablespoons of brown sugar because another reviewer said it was too sweet. Nobody even mentioned the difference. I would add some chopped pepper to this for more texture next time. Red bell pepper would be good.

Cream Cheese Ham Omelet

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2012
I used whole eggs instead of egg substitute and didnt add the onion. I used a shaved ham since its easier for me to eat. I had dental surgery and this was good and filling and easy on my gums. I like the cream cheese in it. Also I was able to perfectly fold this omelet and thats a first. Thank you.

Baked Chicken and Stuffing

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I changed this some based on what I had on hand. I used 2 medium sized chicken breasts and one can of soup and one box stuffing. To make it creamier and to make up for some of the soup I was lacking I used 1/4 cup reduced fat sour cream and 1/4 cup evaporated milk. I also used the broth from the chicken when I boiled it. ( I added s&p and garlic to it while it boiled.) I omitted the cheese because I didnt have it. This is an amazing casserole. I dont think my changes made a huge difference in the overall outcome. Everyone ate it and my husband insisted I save him the leftovers. very cheap to make I figured I had about 4.00 in the entire thing and it served 3 adults with about 2 servings left over. Great with pan fried bacon green beans and crescent rolls. This will DEFINITELY make it into my rotation. I think this would be excellent with frozen peas stirred in right before baking. Thanks.
