Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2013
I tried another pie crust recipe from this site about a month ago, and was not impressed. But this one right here!!!! Ooh wee, I enjoyed it. The only thing I did differently was use butter shortening like someone else suggested, which gave it a nice buttery taste. I didn't end up using all of the cold water, so I'm glad I paid attention and didn't just pour it all in. I baked up a sweet potato pie using a recipe that i've used here in the past. Was truly a nice pairing. I will definitely keep using this pie crust recipe.

it was very yummy and very easy to make. i doubled the recipe. And separated it into three containers to make three different flavors: fresh strawberry, fresh peach, and butterfinger. people were asking for the recipe!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
I TRIPLED THIS RECIPE FOR OUR THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON TODAY. AND IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!!! I DID TWEAK IT CAUSE I'M A SWEET POTATO PERSON. I USED A 28 OZ CAN OF SWEET POTATO PIE FILLING INSTEAD. I ALSO ADDED A PINCH OF ALLSPICE. I ALSO FOLLOWED A REVIEWER AND SCOOPED OUT A CUP AND 1/2 OF THE CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE TO SPREAD IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CRUST. AND BECAUSE I WAS MAKING A SPICE CAKE THAT WANTED MY EGGS TO BE ROOM TEMP, I SAT MY EGGS FOR THIS OUT TOO, ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAD ANY EFFECT ON THE AWESOME OUTCOME OR NOT. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY COPIES OF MY TWEAKED RECIPE I HAD TO HAND OUT TODAY! 5 AND COUNTING!! I WILL BE MAKING MANY MORE OF THESE NOW RENAMED "DOUBLE LAYER SWEET POTATO CHEESECAKE"!!!

Ooey Goey Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
I made this dessert three times in two days, so that should say just how much of a hit it was. The first day, I cooked it as directed and it came out much "gooier". The second day, I let it cook longer than the listed time, and it firmed a bit more. I think I liked it better firmer. I did make two changes to the recipe. I added a pinch of lemon extract(very very minute amount) and I also mixed in chopped pecans into the cake batter mixture. This is by far my favorite "cake" dessert ever!! It is going into my recipe binder for sure!

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
I served this for my Mary Kay brunch party and it was eaten up within minutes!! I did however use large eggs and not jumbo ones, and left out onions, as I'm not a big onion eater. I followed another reviewer and used the frozen hashbrowns instead of fresh. I also used Honeysuckle turkey breakfast sausage. Definitely a keeper.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
This was an awesome recipe. My fiance` told me were out of pancake mix, so I found this recipe, and it was much better and lighter than my aunt jemima pancake mix any day of the week. Later we found the store mix in the fridge(lazy man), but we were not sorry. I will definitely use this one again.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
OMG!! This was some awesome cornbread!! My friend tasted it and told me that this one was better than my last one. I laughed because I was always make Jiffy cornbread and modify it to make it sweet and moist. So, imagine my surprise to learn that my homemade one was better than Jiffy?!! Definitely a keeper.

Authentic, No Shortcuts, Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
These were some awesome red beans. I made no substitutions, except for how long they cooked in the slow cooker; and that's only because I forgot about them and fell asleep. They cooked for like 13 hours on low and were super duper creamy!! This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This is the best frosting I've ever made. That being said, it was still slightly "softer" than I would have like. I think I'll put it in the fridge for a while next time. But, definitely a keeper

15-Minute Dinner Nachos Supreme

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
My entire family loved this meal. For those who talked about the rice not being cooked, I wonder if they used regular rice instead of instant. I used regular, but I cooked it until it was almost cooked before adding it to the mixture. We used ground turkey and turkey italian sausage. This is definitely a keeper!!
