Raspberry Almond Coffeecake

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
The result was excellent and very tasty. I didn't bother with the glaze. However, I did have a heck of a time spreading the thick batter into the cake tin. I finally sprayed a spatula with Pam to spread it out. Also, after having used 2/3 of the batter, the 1/3 left for the top didn't seem enough. Otherwise, it baked as stated and was visually pleasing. It was a big hit. I will bake it again but will try some of the suggestions of other reviewers.

Pork Medallions

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
Absolutely wonderful! The first time I made this recipe, the only thing I changes was that I substituted thyme for savory (didn't have any). I doubled the broth for more gravy. The third time I made this recipe, I added about 1/3 cup plain yogurt just before serving and it was equally wonderful. I served it for my bridge luncheon and got rave reviews.

Chicken and Apple Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2010
Wonderful! My son said it was like eating in an Indian restaurant. I used milk to keep down the calories but I could see how using coconut milk would add to the richness of an already superb recipe....perhaps for company. (I added fresh garlic and peas.)

Gramma's Date Squares

Reviewed: May 14, 2013
Loved it!! I did cut back on the sugar and didn't add anymore to the date mixture. Have now made this recipe many times. Wonderful!

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2013
I served this at my bridge get together. Everyone asked for the recipe. I did take the advice of one reviewer and used a prepared pastry crust and cut way back on the sugar. I also used diet soda. I served it with vanilla ice cream. It's a keeper!! Next time, I am going to try this dish using crescent rolls just to make a comparison.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2014
Wonderful! I did what was suggested by "Valerie's Kitchen", except that I used Splenda since I am dieting. I didn't baste at all...covered the chicken breasts with tin foil and voila! Will most definitely make again, and again.....

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
The recommended recipes by SYNEVA may taste good to the North American palate but they are not recipes for authentic Pesto Genovese which must include pine nuts and parmigiano reggiano. Adding chili or cumin is a sin!! This recipe is excellent and I do use walnuts only because pine nuts are very expensive. If pine nuts were used in this recipe, it would be 100% authentic (assuming that the correct cheese is being used).

Pudding Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2014
This recipe saved my life! I had prepared a Boston Cream Pie thinking I had the ingredients to make a proper ganache. I didn't have bakers' chocolate either but did have cocoa powder. Though skeptical, I was extremely pleased to find this recipe and very pleased with the result. It was my turn to bring dessert to the bridge group and everyone complimented my Boston Cream Pie.

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2012
I tried these today and the chops were very tasty...but the stuffing stuck to the bottom of the pan. I did put the better in. I am going to try it again but this time put the chops on a rack and skip the butter. I wasn't going to give a rating until then, but apparently I must in order to post this. I am wondering if anyone else had the same problem.

Skillet Ham, Cabbage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
I found this dish bland and tasteless. I followed the recipe exactly. I even read several reviews wondering how others might "kick" it up, but no one did so I decided to give it a go, as is. We ate it...adding ketchup, which helped. Different strokes, I guess!!
