About this Cook
I love food and eating but am a new cook and I have alot of accidents. Well I'm not really a new cook per se but I cook like I've never been in front of a stove before. I absolutely cannot cook without the guidance of a recipe to light the way and save money on wasted ingredients. I love people, conversation, and full white wines.
My favorite things to cook
Pastas, casseroles, hearty beef dishes and fried foods. Anything that is rich, decadent and flavourful has my seal of approval.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Caribbean. I am a first generation Caribbean girl and while my parents can make heraty soups from scratch, gut scale and clean a fish right from the water, I can do nothing of the kind. I will learn one day because I enjoy caribbean food so much where there's a will there is a way!
My cooking triumphs
Lasagna and Mashed potatoes are the two dishes that I can make without a recipe and I am dead proud of my accomplishments.
My cooking tragedies
Spanish rice. I want to make spanish rich and chicken like the Puerto Rican's do and I have yet to find an authentic non-touristy recipe. I have made attempts that were failures. Deep disgusting disasters.

Chicken with Rice (Arroz con Pollo)
I did not care for this recipe. I have had spanish rice before and it was never this odd tasting. I found this recipe to be a dissappointment and here is why: The whole tomatoes. The whole tomatoes ruined the dish for me, making it very tomato-ey which did not taste good. Also there was no specifics on how to season the chicken. I know that the seasoned chicken is a major part of the flavour and was dissapointed. overall a bad recipe for spanish rice if you are looking for an authentic taste.
