About this Cook
I'm a stay at home mom of 2 VERY active boys, ages 10 and 7. Hubby counts as my 3rd child most days, but he's inclined to agree with that description as well. I love cooking, the 4 most important women in my life gave me all the basics I needed to be able to continue my cooking endeavors. Hubby and I hope to one day own a pool hall with a lunch counter so we can server all our favorite foods to people who like to play our favorite game.
My favorite things to cook
Most requested homemade goods in our house- lasagna, chicken "stuff,' surprise bread, pretzel chicken and extra cheesy mac and cheese.
My cooking triumphs
My first turkey- the most buttery Butterball you've ever met. My family loved it, and I've been making it every year now for the last 9 years. Ummmm...anytime I'm "experimenting" in the kitchen, and my picky hubby and kiddos love it.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at stir fry. The finished product was just something shy of dog food. On second thought, I'm pretty sure that a dog wouldn't even eat it.

Nana Bessie's Whoopie Pies
These were good! The cakes were kind of dry, but I suspsect that was because I replaced half the shortening with butter. Will be making these again

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies
Very good! I didn't have any ground cloves, so I used 2 1/2 tblsp of pumpkin pie spice in place of the seperate spices. As other reviewers said, these do not spread at all, so make them whatever size you want the finished product to be. Used my own filling recipe which worked fine, but I think next time I'll try a cream cheese one. Oldest son who hates pumpkin pie, is not a fan of chake, or whoopie pies, absoutely loves these.

Signature Pumpkin Pie
This has been my "go-to" recipe for years, it's never failed me. To keep the pies from cracking while baking, I always put a pan of water on the bottom rack
