About this Cook
I love reading Cook's Country. It offers a pragmatic, in-depth analysis of the recipes they publish. And they kitchen-test their recipes to make them fairly fool-proof.
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved Italian and meditarranean food. I especially love to grill and make a great steak. I make some great, fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs using a combination of grilling and oven basting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad cooked in the army and has long cooked for family gatherings. My mother and aunt prepared a family cookbook dedicated to my father with a foreword written by my cousin.
My cooking triumphs
I can do anything with pizza. I have alot of personal dishes I've developed over the years that I enjoy making. I'd like to expand my horizons and try some new dishes.

Washabinaros Chili
This probably isn't the most helpful of reviews since I don't remember the exact modifications I made to the recipe to replace ingredients I didn't have on hand. But I wanted to say that it was very good. The substitutions I made were very minor and didn't effect the overall qualities of the recipe. The only major modification was to tone down the spices a bit. I like things zesty, even with a very little bite, but not so much that I have to stop and sip milk in between mouthfuls.

Amish White Bread
I made this recipe today. The only substitution I made was using extra virgin olive oil in place of the vegetable oil. I followed the advice of another reviewer and cut down each of my loaves a bit and made six dinner rolls along with the two loaves. I did let the bread rise a bit longer for the both the first and second rises. It made 2 fantastic loaves of bread with a most excellent crumb. The rolls came out even better if that's possible. I would up with six dinners with the texture of a baguette. I was so psyched. This will definitely be my new go to recipe for bread. I want to try this recipe with baguettes sometime. Highly recommended.

Bonnie's Fruit Dip
I made this fruit dip to accompany a fruit platter I made for a birthday at my wife's office. No ingredients were changed or omitted from the recipe. It was made verbatim. The dip turned out to be delicious and refreshing, and everyone at my wife's office loved it. No fruit was left from fairly large platter. One might think from looking at the ingredients that it might be overly sweet but the cream cheese nicely balances the sweetness of the marshmallow cream, whipped topping, sugar, and maple syrup. I will definitely make this again.
